You must've been late to the party with Sky. When you talk about Saturday mornings on Sky One from years back, it was always WWF Mania.

I obviously arrived before you to the party, was Superstars and All American Wrestling when I arrived.

And WWF Mania was originally on a Friday night on Sky One, just to further compound that point.

I must've already been at the party slightly earlier, Superstars was on a Friday night and the repeat was on Saturday afternoon about 2pm.  All American was on Saturday night.

I'm not sure why's it turning into a "I had sky before you" dick measuring competition, but I didn't get sky until very late, so for me Metal and Livewire were my sky one gateway, and then later Smackdown uncut in the "testoster-zone" block after an episode of JAG.

good times ☺️

It always struck me as an odd re-brand of Shotgun to Metal. It served the same purpose, but bloody hell it looked thrown together in terms of graphics and presentation. I suppose that was intentional, but it always bothered me for some reason.

Here's you all talking about Mania and All American and here's me fondly remembering watching WCW Saturday Night on German sports channel DSF before it switched off for the night and started showing soft core mid-90s German porn.

Great days.

I've still got a copy of souled out 97 someone taped off DSF, complete with German dub commentary and adds. I should dig it out.

Italian Stripping Housewives was where it was at. Chin chin!

Yeah, but it was no Tutti Frutti, the saturday night family games show with tits.

Mark Henry has said that as well as being on the table, he will also be going backstage for immediate reactions from the wrestlers post match, something not seen on sports programming before (his words). He also thinks his days are down as a competitor. I am just excited to see what we get. I assume the intro will be like the promos, but what will the stage be, ring aprons, music. Oooo it's like christmas. Roll on Saturday morning.

Mark Henry has been on a few podcasts talking about his commentary role, and he seems to be chasing up wrestlers to tighten up the simple things. Told a good story about feeding back to the refs as well if they are missing obvious things. As long as he does that in the back, than go full JR on screen, should be an interesting voice to hear

Sadly I was - took four years to break my parents to get Sky, and remember we got it in August 97. First show I watched when we got it...was Livewire on Saturday morning.

Saying that, was Superstars on Saturday morning on Sky as well? Have a memory of walking through Birmingham town centre, looking in a TV store and Ludvig Borga caning some jobber with the Superstars banner in the background, but I may have added the banner in my mind...
