Looking good though 100%, I'd say like a lot of people nowadays that age who have had a career in pro wrestling & has always enjoyed the gym and maintaining a physique he is likely on a nice dosage of TRT and potentially some masteron. I doubt he's on any heavy compounds.

30 years ago today, Bret Hart on his way to the ring to get screwed in the Ironman match against Shawn Michaels. 

Sixty minutes. Not sixty one and a half minutes or whatever it was with the ‘sudden death’ overtime bit. Screwed yet again. 

Saw a clip earlier on Twitter of the match. One of those accounts that clips up matches and condenses them into two or three minutes of highlights. In that form, it looked like an all time classic match. Shame the reality of it fell so short. Still can’t believe that in a worked sport where you’ve got the luxury of choosing how everything plays out, why would you choose to make it a one hour 0-0 draw? Be like trying to showcase football in a film but making it the dullest 0-0 ever. Or a snooker match and you book 85% of it to be just safety. Even more criminal is that Bret and Shawn were pretty much in their primes in that period. There was a legitimate, genuine classic to be had there and having it on a stage like WrestleMania could’ve made it so special. But they hamstrung it with the weird stipulation when a straight 20-25 minute sprint would’ve sufficed and probably would’ve been fantastic.

What a picture! I was watching a match the Vault put up with Bret, HBK, Flair and Savage, and was just thinking that Bret and Shawn were just so effortlessly good. If anyone could have pulled off a 0-0, 60 minute match then it was those two. Especially in 1996. For as good as they were, and as hamstrung as they were, it still has to be seen as the most underwhelming match of all time. 30 years later and you still can't get your head around how any match between these two could have been that bad.

That’s the thing, nothing they do in that match is technically bad. Everything looks good and there are pockets of the match where it threatens to become something like what you’d expect from those two. But there’s just no spark to it. Them both being babyfaces probably didn’t help but there’s so much of the match where they’re just sitting in a chin lock and that match made me never want to see a short arm scissors again in my life. The match at Survivor Series 97 is better and I think it was shaping up to be probably their best match against each other. They were much better with a babyface vs heel dynamic, there was no silly stipulations hindering them and the crowd was white hot because there was actually an issue, beef and a reason for them to want to do damage to each other. But obviously it’s only remembered for the finish.

I genuinely don't think I've ever seen it all the way through.

At the time we didn't have Sky (Survivor Series 96 was my re-entry point) and as I got older I just wasn't arsed about seeing my hero have to give it up to that nobhead Shawn.

I feel like I've seen it anyway.

The match was about proving a point, and the WWF planting their flag on the fact that they had two guys who could do a "proper wrestling" main event, after years of your Flairs and Steamboats being the ones that were spoken of in hushed tones for going sixty minutes. It went 0-0 because they never worked it as an Iron Man Match, it was only ever worked as a sixty minute regular match, but the stipulation was on there to prepare the audience that it would go the full hour.

I very clearly remember watching that match and just thinking how shit and boring it was and how crap Wrestlemania was overall, worse than the year before which was also shit. I’ve no idea who that match was supposed to appeal to, someone should have sat them down and made them watch the Nick Bockwinkel vs Curt Hennig one hour match from the AWA to see how good a long match could be. Instead we got that pile of shit in a WM main event no less. At least we got the return of the Warrior.
