Bloody hell! Was this talked about here before now? Last I saw of him on here was those DDP vids and he was looking good (ish).

Three things I never knew happened until today:

1) Rhyno had a dark match a month before making his debut. Have always assumed he was signed and went straight onto the TV. Wonder if he was actually signed at this point. Its decades ago now, but I seem to remember that the Rhyno debut was a suprise one. Dont remember much about dark matches at the time.

 

2) Kid Kash used the Brawl For All theme for a dark match in 2005.

 

 

3) There was a 3 Count vs Yung Dragons dark match in WWE in July 2001. Always assumed for some reason that Kaz Hayashi immediately pissed off to AJPW, but looking at Cagematch he was in development for nearly a year before they obviously thought he wasnt good enough.

I am not sure I could deal with losing a leg in such a calm manner but, as he said, this will hopefully give him a better quality of life with a prosthesis.

I forgot how good Kim's wrestling videos are and that is a fun one. I lost track of their video's on wrestling a few years ago because they kept getting copyright strike's or taken down. I'm glad that didn't put them off. Been watching a few today and the one about another fellow fuckwit wrestler Koji Kitao is great too.

I'd forgotten all about Low Ki until I saw this video. What does he do these days, apart from being absolutely mental on Twitter?

All those kicks he knocked other people out with - did he practice them on himself for hours or something? What a raging lunatic. I’m surprised he didn’t show up on one of those Control Your Narative shows.

my favourite Low-Ki story is from when Chuck Taylor had a little crew around him called the Gentleman's Club; they were a goofy comedy act, and a way for Chuck to get paid for dicking around with his mates. One of the side-characters was The Swamp Monster, a guy covered in camo netting and fake foliage to do a kind of Swamp Thing gimmick, and he was never really intended to be a wrestler, just a stupid joke character on their YouTube. When they started getting booked in CHIKARA, they needed someone to wrestle as Swamp Monster, and they tended to just stick whoever was available in the costume - I'm pretty sure it was Pete Dunne a few times.

But whoever Swamp Monster was, they always threw a bunch of martial arts kicks in their matches. The reason for that is that Low-Ki once told Chuck that it was the dumbest thing he'd ever seen and that he hated it, so whenever someone new had to play the character, Chuck told them to wrestle like Low-Ki so the audience would think that's who it was.

In one of the Highspots interviews (I forget which) there was a story about how Low Ki was asked to go fifteen minutes with Jigsaw on an Evolve show, but he only agreed to go seven because he was a 'world class striker' and didn't think fans would buy Jigsaw lasting that long against him (they ended up going for fifteen anyway). 

He's a proper mental case, but in the early-to-mid 2000s he was genuinely one of the best wrestlers on the planet (and a world class striker).
