It's a really interesting 'What If...' to discuss, but I think the general consensus so far is pretty much how I'd imagine it would have gone too. With WWF and Goldberg, at that time, there's no way either party has the patience for each other's bullshit for long enough to see him become a star.

A WWF Dusty Rhodes squash from 1989 which I'm only posting because it's to my knowledge the only time Dusty wore a Red AND Yellow polkadot design. He's facing Dale Wolfe who coincidentally was Dusty Wolfe until the Dream himself rocked up in the fed. Dusty looks like when you'd fanny about with a wrestlers outfit in No Mercy or something.

Pretty sure Dusty's portrait in the Survivor Series intro has him in the red and yellow, so he wore it enough to get pictures in it that made you wonder "When did he wear that shit?".

Yep - I think the '89 Survivor Series intro pic has him the red and yellow. You do have to wonder if it upset Hogan at all - and if Dusty did it for that purpose.

I feel like it's gear they gave him - ultimately we know him best with black and yellow, but he also did wear the shitty red and yellow that didn't work at all and then black and red when he was wearing the poncho and buzzard claw hat.

We've all seen it but Steve Austin running in and targeting people prior to Royal Rumble 1998 is just so incredibly good. Ol' Stone Cold could be absurdly funny without it wrecking the aura. The shadow boxing when he stuns Mero and of course his absolutely god awful strut after he stuns Jeff Jarrett is one of the funniest things in wrestling ever.

Bearing in mind that we only got Shotgun Saturday Night on DSF and then the rebooted arena-based Shotgun as Shotgun Challenge or Shotgun Superstars, very much edited down for the morning/afternoon market with overdubbed commentary for the overseas and not domestic market, it means that only years later I'm finding out that things like Steve Austin attacking Brian Pillman at the commentary table happened. Look at Stone Cold fly!

Always wondered how it would have fared if they kept with the original version of Shotgun rather than running back to arenas and filming before RAW etc almost instantly, it's funny when WWF guys say they didn't take from ECW when the OG show was literally trying to be Hardcore TV in similar shitty little dives. Imagine if we actually got the Stone Cold vs Terry Funk feud they teased??
