Had to google it to remember his WWE name. Kaval. Reading through his WWE run in Wiki. Man, they booked him like an absolute loser. Lost every match. Survived 5 mins with Big Show to earn a slot on the Bragging Rights team. Was immediately challenged for it. And lost. To Tyler Reks. Then finally won a match, which was a non-title against the IC Champ. Challenged for the IC belt on PPV. Lost. Lost a load more. Got released.

I wasn't watching then. No memory of any of it, other than loosely following through reports and stuff. That whole era is a right mess.

He still looked good in the ring (see below) but, yeah, they clearly didn't know what to do with him (and probably didn't like that he took himself so seriously, hence the association with LayCool).

Don't think he did himself any favours with the Ziggler match at Survivor Series, either, as it was a bit of a mess and he almost KO'd Dolph with one of his stiff kicks. 

I remember reading something about him pitching a storyline with Rey Mysterio, where he would become this masked heel, which could have produced some fun stuff, but the man is clearly his own worst enemy.

Yes, he wanted to be an evil Rey Mysterio clone. I feel like it could have been fun, and from what I've heard, Rey really never minded anyone working stiff with him, so they could have been a good fit together.

But the problem with that kind of story is that it risks giving yourself a short shelf-life - what is the evil Rey Mysterio doing when he's not wrestling Rey Mysterio? What does he do when the feud is over? But then, it's not like Kaval had a storied run, so it wouldn't have been any worse.


Another Low-Ki story I find very funny is that he was booked to headline the first Bloodsport show - it was Matt Riddle's Bloodsport, before Josh Barnett got involved. It was supposed to be Low-Ki vs. Riddle in the main event. Low-Ki refused to work the show when he found out that he wasn't going over, as he claimed that nobody would believe that Matt Riddle could beat him in a shoot fight. Fuck Matt Riddle, obviously, but he's a former UFC fighter with a significant height and weight advantage over Ki, it's not exactly outside of the realms of possibility that he'd kick the shit out of Ki in a shoot fight. So when it becomes clear Low-Ki isn't working the show, GCW replace him with Minoru Suzuki, and Riddle puts Suzuki over. Low-Ki claimed an injury, and refused to give his deposit back when he couldn't work the show, and the whole weekend on other GCW shows the commentators kept bringing up how they'd seen Low-Ki around town and how healthy he looked.

Sorry for spamming that channel but what a hot crowd for a mental line-up in a six man tag. Samoa Joe, BJ Whitmer and Adam Pearce vs Chris Hero, Necro Butcher and Super Dragon. It's an unbelievable brawl, just a non-stop battering all over the arena with cameos from a long haired Claudio and everyone's fav pregnant looking lad Zandig.

I've been watching a bunch of Brady Boone matches recently (don't ask) and came across this squash against then-WCW International Heavyweight Champion Rick Rude from '93. 

It's a squash, but Rude gives Boone pretty much the whole match and really let's him shine before the inevitable. It's less than two minutes long, granted, but you can tell how much Rude wanted his old high school buddy to look good.

He was alright was Brady Boone but seemed too small to succeed in his era. He was around the same height as Koko B. Ware, but Koko had the charisma, look and gimmicks to reach higher. I even like his Battle Kat stuff but he got replaced in/left that role to when he exited the WWF in late 1990. No idea why, always heard a murmur of legal trouble.

He was! In another era, he might have been a bigger star. The trouble with Boone was a lack of charisma, as he was technically very solid and could work. I always like watching his squashes as he would always throw something exciting in there. Battle Kat was alright and I think putting him under a mask/giving him a gimmick like that was the way to go, if they wanted to give him any sort of a push.

And yeah, I think he left WWE atfer being involved in some sort of bar fight iirc.

Mean Gene was unfortunately a bit of a shit about him on the WCW hotline after his death saying the only reason nobody had a bad word about him was nobody knew who he was. Yeah, cheers Gene, fine obituary that mate.
