Jeremy Pacman? That's an odd character.

The Bear series 2 is absolutely fantastic.

There is one standout episode in the middle with a STACKED cast (holy shit is it stacked) which although the episode is brilliant does slightly jar with the series.

But that's a minor quibble in what is a brilliant show. I love the way the show allows characters to breath and have depth and focus on them completely without it seeming like a "character based episode" which is often a bit shoehorned in.

Jeremy Allen White is obviously the stand out performance, and his portrayal of Carmy and his continuing battle with his grief, his past, his brain is superb (he also happens to be the sexiest man in the world and is now single. Jeremy call me) but it's Ebon Moss-Bachrach as his cousin Richie who has my heart.

He is such a sad character who you just want to hug and comfort and tell him everything is going to be OK, and he's excellent.

The only thing I didn't like is, slight spoiler,

Spoiler

The really depressing ending. But it sets up the next series so well.

Right, Dave series 3 next.

I take back saying that Twisted Metal will be the worst show I'll watch the full season of this year. The Walking Dead: Dead Shitty won't be bottomed. It's not just trash, it's straight up ugly to look at too. Not an ounce of fun in it.

Glad to have Justified back. Not sure I like anyone else in it yet (the new villain seems a bit try hard), but same Raylan + same writing will always equal gold.

This was fantastic. Rained all day so binged the lot.

I honestly think the show deserves a wider audience, and Dave Burd plays this role (himself?) perfectly.

Lil Dicky gets a lot of flack from the rap community, but I'll be honest, I have zero interest in listening to his music outside this show, so I'm not really bothered by that side of things.

There is also the added bonus of Chloe Bennet being in most of it.

Great shit.

I watched the first two series of this when I was sick last week and have started making my way through the third. I was unsure about it at first. It was sold to me and gets compared to Atlanta a lot which is a comparison that really doesn't help it.

Atlanta is leagues ahead of it, and this show doesn't really have anything interesting to say social commentary wise. It's much more similar to Entourage.

But once I got that out of head I have been able to enjoy it for what it is. It's definitely fun and well made.

I agree with the first point, although I don't think it has nothing to say. (but I know that's not what you are saying) It's a pretty good look at love, relationships, etc sometimes. I suppose the fact that both shows are 'rap adjacent' (I just threw up in my mouth) doesn't help it with comparisons.

I like Daves performance and think it's mostly spot on, and I do enjoy the cameos as well, especially (slight spoiler in case you haven't got there yet) in the Atlanta episode with

Spoiler

Usher. Really made me laugh a lot.

On your latter point, I'll have to take your word for it, as I used to work with someone who everytime he had water would "Gotta hyDRATE" or some shit, which I believe is from the show, and he was a twat, so subsequently I'll probably never watch it :)

It executes those things well, so they ring true, but I don't think the show has anything new or interesting to say about those topics. There's plenty of shows that have covered those topics well enough. And i know you know that because you've seen more than your share of media with middle class millennials looking for love in today's crazy world.

The comparison to Entourage is because that show is all about giving that wish fulfillment glamorous celebrity life indulgence,  whilst trying to have its cake and eat it by showing us how hard their lives are, and mistaking that for having something insightful to say about that lifestyle rather than just making them look like whiny celebrities.

I realise this doesn't sound like I like the show much. I really do enjoy it. But I have to enjoy it with a bit of distance. As compared with Atlanta where I was walking around genuinely gutted for a few days when it was over.

Amol Rajan was a presenter on the BBC Asian Network for a few years, I used to really enjoy his show. I hope he does a good job on University Challenge

He is good. He's a little less abrasive than Paxo was, but he's still not afraid to call people out for their stupid answers.

Probably just as well I didn't get on this series. Would've been the first contestant to ever have been escorted off the set.

One of the teams was infuriatingly shit as well, which massively annoys me.

I thought there might have been a new series on Only Connect due, but I'm surprised the iPlayer didn't automatically add it to my "watch next" like it usually does. Thanks for letting me know.

So the big Gilmore Girls rewatch has started in my house and from the very start it hits me how much of the quirky/ironic style of humor we see today is straight up taken from it, yet no one else nails it as it always feels organic between these cast members.

I'm already mad at Luke for not just coming straight out and saying he loves Lorelai, you can see how much he cares for her and Rory right off.

A funny thing i noticed, Sean Gunn's Kirk was called Mike in the first episodes and the writer somehow forgot and started calling him Kirk later on. Has a name change by accident ever happened before?

Three things Dave portrays extremely well are Dave’s narcissism, Gata’s bi polar and Taylor Misiak. It’s not as profound or anywhere near creatively out there as Atlanta but I can kind of see where someone would say well if you like funny shows about a bunch of dudes trying to make it in hip hop that aren’t exactly conventional then you might like these two shows. Then again you could say if you like shows about funny dudes and a funny lady hanging around a bar all day you’ll love Cheers and It’s Always Sunny. Different beasts.

There will be no Luke slander here thank you.

Kirk fits him way better than Mike.

Also, I love Kirk. That is all.
