Ironic Indie Lad Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Being short is fine by me as long as the quality is high. I googled it and it seems to suggest around 10 hour game. That doesnt seem that short compared to most Resident Evil games though. I have had Dragon Quest VII for 3 and a half weeks now and my save file is only about 20 hours. It's just hard to find the time for lengthy games for me at the moment. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted March 3 Paid Members Posted March 3 We finished first playthrough in 9.5 hours last night and even then some parts dragged a little. Quote

It's a bunch of insane, whatever-services-the-story-at-the-time lore that's pretty much tidied up and timelined together retroactively by the fan culture. And it's probably all the better for it. TildeGuy~! Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 (edited) In regards to the story, by the time you return to Raccoon City it turns in to fan fiction Spoiler Mr X, Hunk, Albert Wesker clone, reused final boss fight from RE3 Remake - The only surprise was Ada not showing up, the entire Hospital section is amazing but as soon as you leave there and head to Raccoon City the game turns into RE6 or one of the animated films. In terms of the length I understand RE games aren’t particularly long(my 2nd playthrough took me 4 hours and I’ve seen people finish it in 2!) but there is no other content whatsoever and for a full price game that’s not good. I loved the Raccoon City part. But yeah no mercs mode at launch? Weak. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted March 4 Paid Members Posted March 4 The New Dawn update for Brotato arrived on Switch and Switch 2 yesterday. It has a whole new front end with the character selection, ways to arrange the between level shops, clearer explanations of how all the items work. General quality of life stuff to make the whole game easier to play. Manual aiming gives a really clear crosshair. Switch 2 version allows you to aim the joycon's new mouse mode (insert Caddicarus mouse mode gif here). You can also have three profiles if you have more than one person using the switch. Also has achievements. I'm not sure the new "beast master" character is there though. I deleted my save and started again so I could experience unlocking everything again. Plus, it's completely free. Paid Members JLM Posted March 5 Paid Members Posted March 5 Had my first run on Slay the Spire 2. The upgraded animations, sounds and effects are all very satisfying. Some of the new Ironclad cards immediately seem fun. I'm sure I'll notice loads of these over time, but the first little quality of life improvement I like is a little icon next to the floor counter that shows you the act boss without having to check the map. Monster Train has this too but it wasn't in STS1 without mods. Can't wait to give multiplayer a go over the weekend. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 6 Moderators Posted March 6 (edited) Really enjoying it so far. Killing a motherfucker with a big sovereign blade feels very primal and satisfying. Probably not going to be optimal at higher ascension, I hope it is. I really like the character of the Regent as well, he's a brilliantly pompous ass. The byrdpip is adorable. Some really cool new mechanics, relics, cards, events and also mobs. Look forward to hearing about your experience with multiplayer as not sure I'll get a chance to do that for a week or so. Look forward to hearing about your experience with multiplayer as not sure I'll get a chance to do that for a week or so. It's joyous! Just did a two player run with a friend in discord chat. Really simple multiplayer where you both do your turn at the same time and the enemies have double health. You really have to hash out the order of things to optimise; the run ended up taking two and a half hours because we were trying to plot the best turns possible and getting very sweat about it by the third act. Initially it's stuff like waiting to play attacks until your team mate has applied vulnerable, but by the end when you both have complex builds and enemies become more demanding, it's insanely head-scratchy trying to find the best route through the turn. Being able to throw the potions onto your team mate is a brilliant touch, like on one turn I threw my buffer potion onto Ironclad so he could do a greedy big energy turn to set up a max damage Thrash. Act/Neow rewards you both get offered your own set independently, so it was fun to talk those out and decide what to take for the good of the team. Then for relic chests it's a shared pool, so you get offered two and have to decide who takes which one, so that becomes an important strategy huddle chat moment as well. Some of the fights take on a different dimension with the enemy health buff, like enemies that run away after X number of turns, or enemies who regen with 50% health etc. The decision-making against them changes a lot when those regen numbers are suddenly much much bigger. So much fun. Also we died to the act 3 boss and it had 15 HP left and it was absolutely tragic and we only stopped because the next run would go on til after 3AM. Back at it tomorrow though! Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 7 Moderators Posted March 7 That sounds great - I can imagine how difficult it is going to be to figure out the best line, as the same challenge is there in the board game where you can more easily take an 'undo' to reorder your turn without save scumming a whole fight. ( I like to think I would do that less than I do if the main person I play with wasn't 5 years old, but if I'm honest I would probably still fudge it some times. Never outright do it to live when we should have died, but it does get pretty hairy sometimes and you just need to find that extra one or two damage to make the difference!) Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted March 7 Paid Members Posted March 7 I started playing Mark of the Ninja again because when you have a library of over 600 games, what you should do is ignore that and play stuff you've already completed. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Anyone played this before? Think it's been out a while on other systems? Looks like the kinda crazy racer I love. Quote
Paid Members BigJag Posted March 10 Paid Members Posted March 10 Does look fun. I believe it originally came out on Steam and has been picked up for consoles. Quote
RedTwoster Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Anyone else feeling minded to quit their job and play Pokopia full-time? The game is worryingly addictive. Quote
