Cousin Jim Bob Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Been enjoying THPS3+4 remasters on Game Pass. It's a different team to the guys who did the 1&2 remasters but this lot have done an extremely good job too. It is a shame they couldn't licence very much off the soundtracks but they did get some of the big ones like Ace of Spades, Mass Appeal and 99 Quite Bitter Beings. The new soundtrack is still very good though. Not just all new modern stuff but things like De La Soul feat MF DOOM - Rock Co.Kane Flow. Its fun nostalgia for me and they nailed the new levels they made like Waterpark too. Quote

Until Sega assign M2 to give us Sega Ages Sega Rally this is probably as close as we're going to get to it, but it goes a lot deeper as well. There are licence tests which are just mini stages, and once you've got a licence you unlock different events to earn stars and money. Money let's you buy new cars, stars let you unlock the next round of licence tests and events. The cars are all similar to but legally distinct from actual classic rally cars (the Mini Cooper is called the Kooper, for example). Graphically it isn't great, but it's a lot of fun and scratches the Sega Rally itch. It's only £8.99 as well. Mind you that Sega Rally itch is also easily scratched with an Emulator. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/gaming/old-school-rally-scratched-our-90s-arcade-racing-itch-then-promptly-disappeared Morning. Is this the same game that you've been playing? Quote

Version1.0 Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 (edited) On 7/8/2025 at 10:46 PM, Dr. Alan Grant said: I’ve just finished Jusant, included in this month’s PS Plus freebies. See that big tower? Climb it. And that’s the game. The controls felt like the monkey contraption in Astro Bot. L2 to use your left hand, R2 for your right. Up and up you go, using pitons and swinging to reach the top. You’’re given a gelatinous blob for company too. Kinda looks like the Adipose from Doctor Who, and he has some special abilities to help you on your way. There are collectibles to find, including Cairn stones. Which thankfully are not as painfully annoying as those from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s a very short game, only a couple of hours. But when I had finished, I was left wanting more. Definitely the sign of a good game. It reminded me a lot of Journey, so if you liked that, you’d probably like this. In a word…charming. Have you played Koira? Another Don'tNod game that was released a few months ago. Seemed to just fly under everyone's radar. Edited July 17, 2025 by Version1.0 Quote
Sphinx Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Been eyeing up the Steam Deck for ages but held off as it's felt a bit of a luxury I don't need. Had another interest in it recently but also been thinking of holding out to see if newer handhelds come out. Saw today that Steam Deck has Geforce Now though - seems pretty mad. I'm sure I'd be fine with the Deck as it is, especially as I'd probably dip into older games and JRPGs first, but the option of playing something like Cyberpunk on some top settings on it - and being able to dock it and play like that - sounds great. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted July 18, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 18, 2025 It's a few years old now, but I picked up Easy Come Easy Golf. It's from one or a few of the developers of Everybody's Golf/Hot Shots Golf which is a cracking series of games on Playstation and PSP. It's also a port of an Apple arcade game. It's golf, obviously, but the twist is that it's team golf. You pick a player for each hole. At first you only have 4, so the rest of the holes are played by "mini golfers" which are just generic little dudes that are fine at golf but lack the specialist skills of the proper characters. Each of the characters has their favourite club and a their own style of play. As you play through the competitions you'll level your characters up which will boost their stats, and unlock matches against other characters. These tend to be match play games played under a first to win three holes rule. Win the match and the opponent will join your team. There are several control methods as well. Touch screen, stick swinging (using the right analogue stick) and three tap where you press to start the swing power meter, then to set the power, and finally to control the hook/slice. If your character is using their favourite club and/or in their favourite situation it reduces or negates unnecessary hook/slice. It's a fun game. I'm only a little way in, but it's a good distraction. I've also found that I'm not too bad at chipping the ball into the hole. I think it's all the Golf Story (which is also a great golf game) I played. Helped me better understand things like how spin affects the flight of the ball etc. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth (PS5) Still think that the story is a big letdown, despite a strong setup. But I can't deny that it's still tremendous fun to just play. Spent a good chunk of today on Sujimon. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 31, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 31, 2025 I gave up on Journey to the Savage Planet at the end boss as I knew there was no way I was doing that. It's a good game that could have been great if it had a FUCKING MAP. I only discovered about half the secrets and I would wander around for hours. Why did they do that? Been playing Arise: A Simple Story. Nice enough game but one of those 3D platformers that fucks you not because you're bad at it but because the camera angles are bad. Also, I would possibly consider putting sad video games alongside sad comedy as things I do not need in my life. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted July 31, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 31, 2025 Did anybody see the Nintendo Direct? New Katamari Damashii could be fun. Chillin' by the fire is good, but I've not properly got the hang of it yet. Vicky has no idea what the Katamari games are about. I bought her the first two in a pack for Switch from CEX but she's not played it yet. It'll certainly be an eye opener. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 (edited) The word from the early access closed beta was that Battlefield 6 was back on course for the series, going back to the Battlefield 2 + 3 vibe. Dice had a big event with loads of big streamers invited to play it today for the multiplayer gameplay reveal and the reaction was extremely positive. After the launch messes of 2042 and Battlefront 2 they really needed to nail this. So fingers crossed it lives up to its promise as it's been a long time since I've loved a Battlefield game. Open beta next two weekends for everyone on PC, Xbox S/X and PS5. Completely nuts multiplayer reveal video below. Edited August 1, 2025 by Cousin Jim Bob Quote
Paid Members Jesse Posted August 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 1, 2025 The first beta will be the big test but it really did feel like Battlefield was back watching the event. Quote
Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted August 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 1, 2025 Digging out this relic ahead of upcoming fortnight off - Some initial observations - - The road colours in each level hurt my eyes. - The dialogue for the mission text is great - especially the Vice City level where you work for the crooked cop. He's such a prick. - In the Playstation version a couple of the missions are missing (the ones involving the train, which does not appear). - Sometimes the Playstation version glitches out, particularly in the San Andreas levels which have lots of mad shit going on. - Incredibly old at this point, but it still holds up as a fun trip down memory lane! Paid Members RedTwoster Posted August 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2025 I completed Donkey Kong Bananza, and what a game. It feels so unique, and digging and generally smashing shit up is so much fun. I really hope they release DLC, but even if they don’t, here’s quite clearly scope for them to Super Mario Galaxy 2 this and release a sequel that’s even better than this already brilliant game. I played this from start to finish with my daughter, who would take over the main controls to smash things every so often, which she loved. As a result, I had more gold than I knew what to do with by the end of the game. There’s post-game too, if you’re wondering, including challenges for the various Bananzas which are really fun. My one complaint is a similar one to Mario Kart World with the open world challenges - there’s no way of knowing how many bananas are left to find, so there’s no real incentive to go back to each layer and explore. They patched MKW to rectify this (to an extent) and I hope they do that here. I also hope Nintendo doesn’t make a habit of this. I assume it’s to avoid completionism, but fuck that, I like being a completionist when I’m enjoying a game. Quote
