It's a design choice by the devs. It's sequel is the same. That the "run back" to bosses can often be really hard. It won't give you a save point right next to the boss.

I wanted to like Hollow Knight but it was far too hard for me. I've heard Silk Song is even harder.

I wouldn’t say harder as much as I’d say tedious. You have bosses that have seven or eight phases, maybe more. I gave up on it because it wasn’t any fun. It felt more like an endurance test than a test of your skills.

Just over half way through Silent Hill F and I’m really enjoying it, it definitely doesn’t feel like a Silent Hill title but they’ve got the psychological horror elements absolutely spot on.

What’s the story like?

I couldn’t even explain it to you if I tried.

Finished it this morning, there are some references to Silent Hill in there but I feel like they gave it the Silent Hill name because it would sell otherwise.

Still enjoyed it though.

At 23 hours in I've rolled credits on Silksong three times and there's still more to do. It's the only thing I've had any interest in playing lately, took a little while to get its hooks into me but now I'm fully bought in. Easily my GOTY.

Ended up uninstalling it, after a little longer playing all I was coming across were physics bugs and missions that don't work as intended or were obviously not play tested. Playing 3 again had me realising that the mechanics aren't actually half as good even down to basic pumping into bowls etc.

Look how they massacred my boy!

I've been on the playtest and whilst it's nice we have a new game, that's really all the good I can say about it. The game lacks any charm and grit that made the earlier games so unique. They've stripped out most of what I loved with the ultra realism and removal of the Advanced Free Camera within the filmer pack. It really does just feel like a vehicle for microtransactions and nothing else. Fortnight with Skateboards.

Played The Corridor yesterday. A really clever idea that doesn't outstay its welcome or becoming too annoying. Over and done within the hour, really enjoyed it.

Managed to beat False Knight on Hollow Knight but now I'm just wandering around killing things to make enough money to afford a key. I just.... I really want to like this and I am persevering with it but I don't understand the logic of designing a game to purposefully get on someone's tits. I don't mind bosses being difficult as long as they're not unfair (False Knight isn't) but come on. Maybe I've been spoiled by how perfectly Mark of the Ninja and the Steamworld Dig games managed resources and bought items, requiring almost no necessary backtracking at all. That I'm still playing it is maybe a sign of what a great game is hiding away in here but I'll be amazed if I don't give up sooner rather than later.

Finished my second play through of Silent Hill F last night, the changes between both are fascinating, I’ve got Ghost Of Yotei arriving in a couple of days, so for now this is my game of the year.

I gave up on Hollow Knight. Finally saved up enough to buy a key, used it and then got told by whoever it was behind the door that I didn't need their help. So now I don't know what the fuck to do and if it thinks I'm wandering around for two more hours to kill enough to save up more money to buy another key it can fuck right off. I don't get this game at all.

So now I've gone back to playing grown-up games and I'm playing Marble It Up: Ultra, which I'm very bad at but really enjoying. Great sense of speed from it and the soundtrack is superb.

Double post but I've finally hacked my Xbox 360, it went from soldering chips and a whole host of annoying stuff to just plugging in a USB stick and bang, it's hacked. The first game I had to get on there was the awful avatar based Fire Pro Wrestling and yes.. it's as bad as it looked. So is the beta for that Wrestlefest game that never got a full release.

I'll finally be able to play the gorgeous looking version of Wrestle Kingdom which is pretty much just Gamecube title Day of Reckoning with NOAH, NJPW and AJPW stars.

Gamepass is going up from £14.99 to £22.99. Don’t think I’ve cancelled a subscription so quickly.

That’s a hard pill to swallow, although anyone who pays for Fortnite Crew at the moment (which I do for the kids) will save a couple of quid as that’s getting added for the price.

I must have ages left from the last time I did the upgrade trick...  Expires 28th October 2025.

Bugger.
