Cousin Jim Bob Posted June 6, 2025 Posted June 6, 2025 I watched the total shite Summer Games Fest show so you don't have too. The highlights by a million miles were the last two games shown. The new one from the Like A Dragon lot RGG Studios called Stranger Than Heaven. And Resi 9! Aka Resident Evil Requiem Kenny Omega turned up in a daft trailer to promote the next Street Fighter 6 characters as well. Quote
Retro Red Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 How can you ignore Felt That Boxing? Love the premise that looked like Punch Out with Muppets. Quote

I thought it was a strong show myself, with a lot of really interesting and unique looking games. For me, the highlights were… Mina the Hollower, the latest game by Yacht Club games - the Shovel Knight folk… I loved Shovel Knight, and this looks right up my street. Fractured Blooms - described as being a cross between Silent Hill and Doki Doki Literature Club. An ambitious claim to make, but whatever the outcome, the game looks different and I like the trailer: Felt That Boxing - Punch-Out with puppets? I’m in! Blighted, by the people behind Nobody Saves the World and Guacamelee: And the shadow drop of Lies of P Overture. I enjoyed the show on the whole, there was a lot that left me feeling excited. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 Resi 9 looks stunning and a game that would probably make me scream if I play it at night. Definitely excited to see more, especially gameplay. Love the general idea and vibe though. Quote

There were a few bright spots in the two hours like you mentioned but least two thirds of it were boring looking identikit souls games which all looked the same or boring looking anime games which all looked the same. Or in the case of Code Vein 2 a combination of both. I might have felt a bit different if I didn't watch it live and could fast forward. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted June 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 7, 2025 Had a quick look through the catalogue on Steam and quite heartened that I didn't see the expected huge percentage of roguelikes. Quote

I also watched it live, but to be honest all I need is one game that I’m really excited about to feel like a show like that is worthwhile, and there were several in that showcase that left me buzzing. I can see why you would feel as you did though - there were quite a few sequels to duff games in that showcase, like Atomic Heart 2. The good outweighed the bad for me though, and I suppose there’s a chance that the duff sequels are much improved. Quote

Just all indi stuff. Going to watch it this afternoon. Hoping for a big Xbox showing tomorrow. More footage of Fable and Perfect Dark would be cool. Quote

I’m looking forward to it! 18 minutes ago, Cousin Jim Bob said: Hoping for a big Xbox showing tomorrow. More footage of Fable and Perfect Dark would be cool. I’m hoping we get to see the long-rumoured Xbox handheld device. I don’t think we will, but I’m still crossing my fingers. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 7, 2025 The reaction to Ingrid in the Street Fighter 6 reveal is certainly something. People are NOT a fan of her. The Sagat and Alex hype is along the lines of "oh, they're here now" and people are interested to see how C Viper will play. New Arcsys Marvel fighting game looks hectic. Like Dragonball Fighter Z cranked up to 11. Dan will probably be the last DLC character Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted June 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 9, 2025 Holy crap, the Xbox Showcase was tremendous. I’m really excited about the Xbox Ally, although I’m very curious about the price - I expect it to be significantly more than most other handheld PCs, but we’ll see. As far as the games go, I left the showcase excited about pretty much everything on show. Game Pass has never looked like a better deal than it does right now. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted June 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 9, 2025 The most interesting thing they showed was the Call of Duty trailer right up to the point it was revealed to be Call of Duty, then it was the least interesting thing. Quote

It has bigger controller grips, in line with an actual Xbox controller, and more modern hardware (The X is running a Z2 Extreme over a Z1 Extreme). Not worth upgrading, but if you haven't bought one yet it'll probably be a little pricier and a little nicer. Quote

I’m ready to upgrade from my Steam Deck, so short of it being unreasonably expensive, I’m pretty certain I’ll get one. Quote
