Paid Members FLips Posted May 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 2, 2025 Yes I turned the difficulty down to easy. Yes I used a cheese strat on the final couple of bosses and level 85-99 grind. Yes I was harsh on the game (though stand by some criticisms). Yes I got every achievement in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 despite moaning I was calling it a day not long ago. Took me 54 hours all in all which for an RPG, including menu time, sat eating my tea time and general fannying about time is a really good time for 100%. The Like and Dragons and Personas took me close to 100 hours. Might be the first game other than I think Chrono Trigger where I maxed my character level out. Fun game, enjoyed it. Will keep my eye out for DLC. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 Clara Obscur Expedition 33 (Xbox Gamepass) I can see why people like it and I can deal with the lack of a minimap. But I'm struggling with real time actions, in a turn based combat system. I haven't completely given up yet, though. The story and setting are interesting enough to hold my interest. Probably just me but I find myself thinking of Drakengard 3, while playing. No idea why. Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted May 3, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 3, 2025 I’m near the end of Clair Obscur, and it’s a game I’m not sure I want to finish. I’ve done almost everything there is to do, and I still want more. I can’t wait to see what the development team do next, and I hope Square Enix takes inspiration from what’s been done here for the next Final Fantasy. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted May 5, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 5, 2025 Back to the grown-up games, spent most of the weekend playing Golf Gang. Decent minigolf game until you need to start piloting the fucking thing through the sky (no, really) and thus exposing the controls as total shite. When you're not airborne though, there's a few hours of fun in this. And only because I bought a ton of them during last year's summer sale when I didn't know what I was doing, I tried another roguelike in the form of Bing in Wonderland. Probably the best of these that I've played but I can't actually see any good reason why it needs to be a roguelike at all. As usual, don't understand half the terminology but at least it's not preposterously difficult and making me want to bung my Steam Deck out the window. Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted May 5, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 5, 2025 I’ve finished Clair Obscur, and I took the time to get both endings. What a game. If this doesn’t end up being my game of the year, something truly spectacular will have had to come out. It’s definitely broken into my list of all-time favourites. I’m seriously tempted to start it again on a harder difficulty setting and play through the whole game once more. What a game. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted May 5, 2025 Posted May 5, 2025 Haven't played it in a long time so will probably give it a go. Quote
TildeGuy~! Posted May 6, 2025 Author Posted May 6, 2025 Delayed til May 2026. New trailer Today. Quote
Merzbow Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 I'm got almost negative amounts of hype for this, the last thing I want to play is a modern day game set in the USA. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 Far more interested in gameplay than a trailer like that. Quote
Paid Members CleetusVanDamme Posted May 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 6, 2025 Year 12 of still not having Apache Blood: The Lamar Davis Story DLC hurts so bad. Quote
The Gaffer Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 That trailer's brutal. GTA-by-the-numbers - which should at least be explosive - but through a weirdly muted edit job. There's little bits of dialogue and camera angles in there that I can imagine the usual pre-mission cutscenes playing out from. You walk up to somebody in their back garden, they wave a beer at you whilst rattling off some dodgy edge-culture state of affairs lines that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the mission or the current story beats, then you're back out on the street with a line of text at the bottom of the screen telling you to go and pick up their mate from the airport. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted May 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 6, 2025 I do wonder how Dan Houser leaving Rockstar will affect things. He's always been the major creative force behind these games. That trailer didn't really inspire me to be honest. GTA almost feels a bit...dated. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted May 6, 2025 Posted May 6, 2025 I'm excited for the potential of the scope of the tech and just to see how far things can be pushed now, but as a general concept I'm not actually that bothered about another GTA if I'm honest. I'm more into seeing what the possibilities are for other open worlds. Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted May 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 6, 2025 I feel the same as you both do @LaGoosh and @DavidB6937, and from speaking to friends, I suspect that it’s not an uncommon viewpoint. They’re not going to release a bad game, and while it’ll no doubt sell very well, I do wonder if it’ll perhaps do less well than many analysts anticipate. I don’t sense any significant buzz or anticipation surrounding this game. Quote
