Got done with Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky today, which is quite a charming little RPG with some nice characters and world. Ends on a cliffhanger and apparently all the games in this series are three-game arcs so I'll be picking the sequel up when I'm done with my next two.

Speaking of, I'm cracking into Promise Mascot Agency, a game where you're a disgraced yakuza attempting to turn around a failing mascot agency where the mascots are living beings rather than people in costumes. It looks ridiculous but it's by the people who made Paradise Killer and I adore that game so I have high hopes. Then I'll be picking up Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 when it launches on Thursday. Another turn-based RPG it's been reviewing well among people I know with advance copies so I figure I'll give it a go.

Happy Oblivion Remake Day to all who celebrate it.*

*Or alternatively, Happy Don’t Believe Unfounded Rumours Day to gullible chimps like me.

Even if it was planned for today, I’d imagine they’d delay it because of the death of the pope. We’ll see, though.

Monster Train popped up recently on Game Pass. I think it had been on there before but I never got round to playing it. I booted it up around 8pn last night and had to force myself to stop halfway through a run at 3am.

Like Slay the Spire and Balatro it's very easy to get into and accessible but I imagine like them the potential and variation of decks and tactics you can use is insane. I found it easier than them to finish a run too, I probably got extremely lucky but got my first victory on my 3rd run.

Like Slay the Spire and Balatro I expect I'm going to be hopelessly addicted to it for a month or two then just stop playing one day and never play the thing again but it's got its hooks in me atm.

Picked up the GTA Definitive Trilogy for £20 in the sale on my Switch. Since Rockstar took it back from Grove Street Games and fixed it it's running great and looks fantastic. I'm on GTA3. Such nostalgia.

Have you tried the other two games yet? If so, how do they perform on Switch?

I haven't yet, but I have faith that they'll be better than the last round of remasters based on the mobile ports.

A few hours in to that new Indiana Jones game. It's kind of fun but the mechanics are quite slow which isn't what I was expecting considering the fun and fast action of the movies it's based on. I have no idea how it's going to be able to successfully pull off any big action sequences like from the films. Maybe it won't? I shall see. Troy Baker's Harrison Ford impression is absolutely dead on though.

I really hope it’s a case of “here’s what we’ve done to remake this game, it’s available as soon as this video ends” and not “coming in 2026!” I’ve got a few days off work after today, and spending them blissfully hopping around to get my Jump up will be glorious. Now then, do I play as a mage, a warrior or…bollocks to it, stealth archer once again!

We replayed it a few years back and got into a nice routine of making up a little charcuterie board and settling in for hours on it. If this releases today i’ll be digging the cheese and grapes out.

I don’t think I’ve ever read anything so delightfully peculiar before.

That's fantastic. And also makes total sense. Oblivion's totally a cheese board and glass of red wine kind of game.

I think I'll play wait and see with this one. From the 2-3 screenshots so far it just looks like another 'realistic' modern Unreal Engine game. I have zero desire to play Oblivion, But it Looks Like Avowed. I also have no gaming PC and even if I did, if it took mods to remove those muddy brown filters then I may as well just mod the original.

This will only work for me if it comes desirable out of the box, and for me the original upscaled on Series X still looks and plays absolutely fantastic and does the job.

If - in motion - it has retained Oblivion's bright, inviting fantasy setting though? Yeah, I'll adopt it. Here's hoping for all manner of bells and whistles sliders. A lot has been made of how broken the levelling system is in the original but it is part of the charm, to me. It'd be great if the remaster allowed people to change to a newer system but also revert to the completely ludicrous one where village peasants started walking around with fulls sets of elven armour after you reach level 10.

As much as people have said Oblivion is the 'dull' one, for me it still easily has the best, most inventive quests that all function as little fantasy soap operas. And beneath the idyllic setting, approximately 80% of Cyrodiil's residents are completely insane.

Get digging, out right now and included in Game Pass.
