I’m all for the resurrection or creation of videogame publishers and developers. These days it feels like your options outside the first parties are Activision, Ubisoft or Sega with very little options between. I’m not saying they’ll be putting out Elden Ring or anything but can’t hurt to have options.

Yeah, I totally agree. Some of the best games I’ve played over the past few years have been the kind of ‘AA’ games you’d have to assume the revived Acclaim will be publishing. Given the number of lay-offs in the industry, as those at the top make record profits, it’s nice to see some positive news for a change that I hope will create employment opportunities.

Finally completed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 .

Took around 88 hours, still have side quests to do and rare blades to collect. Still have most of my previous issues with the game (pacing being a pretty big one) but overall I'd say I enjoyed it more than the first.

Funny thing is though, it was nowhere near as difficult as i remember it being during my original playthrough. Pretty much demolished the final boss at level 67.

It was pretty cool completing it again immediately following the first game.

Now a short break before the Torna DLC.

Well I gave in and bought Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii.

Enjoying it so far, though not quite as much as Secret Agent Kiryu. Only about 3 hours in though, so that could change.

Where they go after this though, I have no idea.

I've been playing a bit of this on my PC, it's a miracle and has me wondering what other games from the Xbox 360 can be ported by fans in a similar way. But of course it's a Sonic game that gets the first go at this kinda thing, those fans are mad in both the best and worst ways.

Just bought myself and my daughter tickets for Guns n Roses at Wembley in June.

She's really gotten into her music over the last year or so and actually likes a lot of the same music I do.

She's very much an introvert and this is the first thing I can remember her ever wanting to do with just me. It'll be her first ever gig and she's very excited.

I can't wait, it'll be my 2nd time seeing this iteration of GnR, but I'm more excited about spending the day with her in London.

Well doesn't this look fascinating?

Finished up on Avowed yesterday. I came away from it thinking it was fairly bang average with a story they intended to be deep but was actually obtuse and confusing.

The main gameplay loop was fine for the first world or two but it never really evolves past that and yet again follows the AAA standard of "here is a zone, here are some checkpoints to activate, here are a set of identical objectives for it that we'll repeat across the entire game". By the time I got to the third area I stopped bothering with bounties and side missions because the money it was giving me wasn't worth it and the gear system is so generic and bland that there was no benefit to changing weapons or armour more than maybe two or three times through the entire duration of the game.
Only being able to upgrade your gear in camp was a bane through the entire thing. Like why can't I use the blacksmiths in town? I don't want to have to fast travel to a camp, go into an isolated camp incident, use my upgrade station, then teleport back out again every time I want to check if I can upgrade my sword.

I was hoping that with four big areas you'd maybe get some enemy variations but you can list the bestiary on one hand. Bears, Lizards, Mushrooms everywhere you go. That being said the different regions are all unique in looks and they do look impressive, but that's about as far as it goes.

The storyline doesn't require you to play Pillars of Eternity but it would certainly help. Even outside of the lore though the actual storyline itself is all over the place. I think it's trying to make you think about decisions and ponder whether you're the good or bad guy but in actually it just feels like a game that can't make it's mind up and reading up on the endings I didn't get it seems like your decisions really don't mean as much as you would hope.

One of the weakest Obsidian efforts I would say. Stick of Truth, Outer Worlds, Fallout New Vegas and Grounded are games by them I've played and enjoyed more.

I keep meaning to give Grounded a proper try. The fact there are survival elements to it put me off slightly, but it seems that there’s enough outside of that to make it worth a go.

After completing Spider-Man remastered on the PS5.. with the exception of the stealth challenges! I am now on to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on the Xbox.

I am a couple of hours into it and at present, I am getting a lot of early Medal of Honor vibes, in fact all that is missing for me is “Show me your papers”.

Looking forward to seeing how the game evolves the further I get into it as at the minute, I am just finding it a bit meh but I have been told it gets better.

If you can, play it co-op. There are a lot of customisation options, so you can turn off survival mode if it’s not your thing. Then you don’t have to worry about eating/drinking. There’s basically a God mode too that gives you every ingredient/item for crafting and building whatever you fancy. Me and a friend sunk a lot of hours into it, making very elaborate bases that occasionally come under attack from terrifying spiders (luckily there’s an arachnophobia mode too!). There’s a great feeling of accomplishment when you finally collect all the parts needed to upgrade your weapons/armour. But without a doubt, co-op is the way.

Is there a central story/end point, or is it very much an ongoing/neverending game?
