WHAT PLAY YOU!? Version 3.0

So I finished Alan Wake and while I didn't love it it's definitely a solid little game, it ended up being far too much action and not enough time being spent with the town and it's characters. Deadly Premonition is still my Twin Peaks-like of choice, even if it's a busted game with a truly terrible and even more broken sequel.

I think I'm going to replay Dark Souls 2 next, a big new mod came out that changes things up a lot without it feeling too fan-gamey and it's been a while since I've ran around with Gut's greatsword.

Played through Jusant on Game Pass the last couple of nights. What a lovely little game that you can get through in a few hours. It looks absolutely stunning at times with great music too. Reminded me of the likes of Ico or Journey.  It is not very difficult, it is more about the overall experience tbh but it has a fantastic atmosphere and the story builds to a sweet ending.

One of the best games I have played this year.

Like a Dragon Gaiden is out tomorrow!

Might not officially be the target audience but it’s the best age to play games. Hopefully they have an extended torture sequence again for her to get her milk teeth stuck in too! My 6 year old really likes running people over on GTA 5 but his stupid little baby brain isn’t  advanced enough to experience the truly inappropriate things and strangely for someone who can platform with the best of them on janky arse Roblox he struggles with the controls.

Bought Super Mario Wonder for my wife. Now I’ve finished Bayonetta 3, I started a game. REALLY good fun to play. That is to Jump Jump Jump and it took me about 2 hours to be a mission which lasts 50 seconds.

I've got the day off work today, and I was quite looking forward to spending most of it playing Like A Dragon Gaiden. The sodding thing crashes at the start of the first chapter, a full-on console shutdown as soon as the title of the chapter appears on screen. I changed the HDR setting, which seems to fix similar problems with other games (basically just don't use it), but it's still not having it. Hope anyone else playing the Game Pass version on Series X is having more joy!

Edit: leaving the Xbox unplugged for half an hour before having another try seems to have fixed it (in combination with leaving the HDR setting turned off).

So there's a new Steamdeck coming out with an OLED screen and a bunch of other little fixes, and a limited edtion with a translucent body. There won't be any major hardware changes so no FPS boosts on games, likely not worth buying if you already own one but if not.. but they're also reducing the price of the original a little.

It seems to have better battery life too. The main reason I'd been holding off was waiting for a revised battery model. Though after seeing numerous even more expensive Deck-likes having comparable times, I wasn't sure how realistic my hopes were, between that and Valve being adamant that there was nothing new on the way I'd have definitely caved in the near future.

Was it absolute chaos getting a regular SD at launch like it was for other consoles recently? I'm definitely down for the OLED when it becomes easily available.

Currently playing on PS5 with HDR on. Zero problems, so far.

Yeah, but mainly because it was released in very limited numbers. It was originally meant to be a bit of a niche product but it's kinda blew up.

I hope you kept the receipt and they exchanged it for you.
