Comedy and offense

Racism against black Americans is quite different from that against black Africans in the way it's enacted across the world, as is that enacted against Arabs, South Asians, Latinx people, Travellers, Roma, and Eastern Europeans, which is why, for me, it's more important to recognise that any form of discrimination based on your ethnicity is wrong, regardless of how, which comes afterwards.

This is the crux of the issue. Even the phrase 'black Africans' means absolutely nothing on a biological level as a black Ethiopian and a black Angolan are more genetically different to each other than they are to us.

It’s partly because of the lack of final say on the Potter movies that she has it with Fantastic Beasts and the Theme Parks.

Yup. She had a few issues with them towards the end of that run. She makes sure now that it needs double sign off from both WB and her team for anything Potter related.

It’s great how many dickheads are complaining about snowflakes and wokies getting offended by a joke when, given who told the joke, it was probably something they’d get offended about themselves. I’m guessing there as I don’t know what was said.

That’s if it happened at all of course. It could be an elaborate work, a woke work.

It was for realsies, and you are absolutely right it would offend them and seeing them use it as another 'oh dem woke lefties who probably vote Labour' stick. Seeing some proper prick comedians use it for that argument isn't a surprise.

It's frustrating seeing people who I booked in the past, and in some cases, who were talented, become such awful pricks, catering to the laziest of controversies while pretending it's about freedom of speech. If I thought they believed it, it'd be one thing, but it's so clearly a professional decision. One reason why I'm glad I'm out of it.

What was Joe Lycett's joke? Aside from being presumably not funny.

Who do you like Devon out of interest in your comedy at the moment? I like Joe, find him very funny, but prefer seeing him in a 75-100 room than a tour.

@Chris Bwhen you came to see me at Angel Comedy that used to be ran by a bloke who said 'The audience are a bit fackin snowflakey, they don't like jokes that make you think' and I blankly nodded. It wasn't that, it was that hilarious 'women ask for it' humour that got you shuffled silence. Awful, I can't stand 'baseball cap alpha boys' comedy

At the moment? I've not watched much recent stand-up so my favourites are largely those who I've been watching for years, so Carlin, Stanhope, Stewart Lee and so on. Taylor Tomlinson and Tom Papa's recent shows were really good though, and Rob Delaney's.

Who falls into this category?

You know most of them but I'm not saying because I don't know you very well I'm afraid, you are in the industry and you could tell them. They're all men though. It's bled over from a combination of loads of people really wanting to follow the American pod trend. Obviously this is also my opinion too, I find the humour and the subjects a bit on the nose and predominantly (though not constant) punching down.

Fair play...100% understand.

Spoiler tags just to be on  safe side

Spoiler

According to reddit he plays a video of himself as a child, nude swinging his dick around - but the video's been edited so he's got a comedic large penis. So I'm guessing the call to the police was likely someone assuming it counted as child porn?  Which, whilst still ridiculous, rather reframes this whole news story.  But you know "snowflakes getting offended" gets you those precious precious clicks and comments that all news sites desire
