Paid Members Statto Posted March 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 11, 2025 Never fear all - it seems the "limited release" in Worcester was (predictably...?) a publicity stunt foreshadowing a comeback. Should be able to pick them up nationwide from next week. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 12, 2025 Just tried the limited edition Real McCoys Grilled American Cheese flavour. Incredibly meh. Not bad, but not good either - if you want cheesy crisps, plenty of better options out there. Quote

I did like how (and this is going to sound mental as all crisps are artificial flavouring) it just tasted of a nondescript CHEESE and it nailed that slightly rank flavouring of that artificiality (is it a word? Is now!) but yeah nothing to write home about. Quote
Ro_y Disco Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 Not sure if this has been shared before but a great short video about the colour of S&V vs C&O. Learned some things I never knew before. https://youtu.be/XLC0eeDalBI?si=EQx0zp8W9XlFIS7Q Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted March 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 12, 2025 At least Real McCoys are still fighting the good fight, I guess. Fuck Walkers, the contrarian bellends. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 12, 2025 Moderators Posted March 12, 2025 They were rivals, of course they were going to do something different! You can't blame Walkers. Also did you not watch the video? It's in part due to golden wonder not paying their staff properly. Fuck 'em. And whilst I'm at it I'm going to just make shit up and say the fire was caused by then cutting corners on safety, the money grubbing scumbags. Good riddance. Quote
Merzbow Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 The other cheese and onion war across the water, they both went with red?!? God damn Commie crisps. Quote

Nah, the colour thing has nothing to do with being rivals. Every other company back then did green for cheese & onion, because it makes sense. Same with salt & vinegar being blue. Yes, fuck Golden Wonder, but that's not why Walkers are wrong. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 12, 2025 Moderators Posted March 12, 2025 Go on then. Tell me why it makes sense! I cannot fathom the logical reason you're going to give me for why the colours are 'correct' and not completely arbitrary. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted March 12, 2025 Members Posted March 12, 2025 Can you stop arguing in the wonderful crisp thread!!! A hex of a multipack of Thai Chicken McCoys on both of you! Quote

I cannot fathom the logical reason you're going to give me for why the colours are 'correct' and not completely arbitrary. Can you really not? Onions are more likely to have a hint of green, if not be actually green (they might very well be spring onions, it's never said); either way they're vegetables, which are more associated with the colour green. Nothing about salt or vinegar is green. Blue is more appropriate for salt and vinegar, because that's a taste people associate with the sea. Yes, there's blue cheese, but whilst they've never stated what kind of cheese, it's demonstrably not the flavour of cheese & onion. And yeh - it is completely arbitrary. I'm just saying it makes more sense or is more intuitive. Quote
Paid Members Jesse Posted March 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 12, 2025 Hesitant to upset Bacon with what I'm sure are objectively mid crisps, but Doritos have done a new BBQ flavour while promoting the Minecraft movie and I can't stuff enough of them down my gullet. Love a BBQ crisp, and this one goes down real nice. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted March 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 12, 2025 Smiths had it right, KP had it right and Golden Wonder had it right. Walkers came from nowhere and fucked the colours all up. Twats. Quote
