Cousin Jim Bob Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 (edited) In crisp news I noticed on the Aldi website the other day they now do a knock of Walkers Max Jalapeno and Cheese crisps. My local has not got them it stock yet so I've not been able to try them. At £1.09 they are a lot cheaper than Walkers so hoping they are good. Edited May 1, 2025 by Cousin Jim Bob Quote

RedTwoster Posted May 4, 2025 Posted May 4, 2025 These are sensational if you like a spicy crisp. I picked them up at Tesco and hugely regret not buying their entire stock. A slightly sweet crisp with a nice kick. Lovely stuff. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted May 15, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 15, 2025 I get my wife one of those snackboxes with different world snacks. This last one had some Spanish crisps by a company called Torres, and the crisps were fried egg flavour. I have never tasted anything more accurate in my life, and I loved every one the wife let me have. ? Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted May 15, 2025 Members Posted May 15, 2025 I can't stand Torres crisps. I always think they taste really oily in a horrible way. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted May 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 16, 2025 That's a shame as these were great. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted May 16, 2025 Posted May 16, 2025 Torres do my favourite plain crisps, the olive oil ones, they're just... pricey. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted May 16, 2025 Moderators Posted May 16, 2025 Daz likes completely flavourless crisps. That's very on brand! Quote

Crisps are my weak spot, so I'll pretty much eat any packet you throw in front of me.. but yeah, plain salted crisps are the best. *edit* also, always worth mentioning.. my issue was never with flavour, or even sauces. It was just condiments and unnecessary added wetness. I'll make stews and curries and pasta dishes until the cows come home. I'll even dip a crisp if the occasion calls for it, and it's an appropriate dipping crisp. Edited May 16, 2025 by d-d-d-dAz Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 16, 2025 Torres are an opinion-divider. I love their crisps, particularly their black truffle ones and their fried egg ones. Their Iberico ham ones are good, as are their smoked paprika ones. Their caviar ones - I like them, but I know there will be people who hate them. YMMV. Quote
Merzbow Posted May 16, 2025 Posted May 16, 2025 I miss the month or two where Farmfoods were having to sell them Torres crisps off cheap because no one in Tile Hill could afford £3 or whatever a pack, I'm a sucker for any black truffle flavor, too. Quote

I've not had the walkers to compare them with, but I think it's the first time in my life I've needed a glass of milk after some crisps. I can normally tolerate a decent bit of heat, but but these were bordering on ridiculous! Quote

I have an annoyingly high tolerance to spicy food, which means I don’t normally get a spicy kick from all but the absolute hottest of hot sauces and that I can’t make a curry I’ll enjoy without ruining it for everyone else. Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 16, 2025 Tried these. They're nice, but they're just cheese-flavoured crisps. I had to try them, but kind of had an idea they'd turn out to be just that. Mac won't taste of anything other than "generic carb" which will probably overlap with your standard potato crisp. Quote
