Keith Houchen
Nah, not having that. 2017 showed Corbyn was electable in spite of relentless treatment by the media and loads of his own Parliamentary party. And that got ramped up to the Nth degree for 2019. Couple that with Starmers shit Brexit policy meant he didn’t have a chance. And Starmer is certainly not as electable as Miliband was and probably still isn’t. All these Labour cunts calling for unity behind the leader weren’t saying that when they didn’t like the leader. Corbyn scared the establishment, Starmer is the establishment. Edited July 7, 2022 by Keith Houchen

People distrusted him mainly because of what he said, I know I did. Plenty of people voted Tory for the first time because of him. Edit: it looks like Johnson is going to hang on for a few more weeks of user chaos, madness. Edited July 7, 2022 by Loki
David
Isn't it the case that if Labour were to dump Starmer now it would undo much of the good work already done of late? And effectively set them back a bit? Saying that, it is the done thing on the left to shoot themselves in the brogue when they have a chance of getting somewhere. The left of the party were always expected to hold their noses when it came to Blair, but the moment a leader closer to their politics was elected, the right of the party couldn't do the same. Keith Houchen
Just now, Loki said: Didn’t Corbyn lose in 2017? He and his policies took away May’s majority. In the face of the relentless shit he got from the establishment media, I’d say that shows he was electable. I mean, on Politics Live today, the day Johnson supposedly quit, they were taking about Corbyn. Fucking hell. I know exactly what Corbyns house looks like because cameras were camped there for years. I don’t know any other politicians house.
Paid Members stumobir Posted July 7, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted July 7, 2022 If Corbyn gave the media the Mick Lynch treatment and the parliamentary Labour Party done their fucking job in 2017 then we’d be living in the sunny uplands of socialist utopia now, and Johnson would be writing racist dog whistles for a shitrag. Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted July 7, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted July 7, 2022 Reports that the reason Johnson is looking to remain in the short term is because he has a big wedding party planned to take place at chequers in a few weeks which he obviously can't if he isn't PM. At least read the previous page before posting. 1 hour ago, Keith Houchen said: Turf the cunt out now. Mainly because he has his wedding party at Chequers coming up and it would be fucking hilarious if he wasn’t able to use it. Plus he will spend his time holed up there writing a book while we pay for it. Bet he tries to get another round of honours done for his mates before he goes. Paid Members Carbomb Posted July 7, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted July 7, 2022 One of the things that really fucked me off was how people were persuaded that Corbyn was "an existential threat to Jews" because of stuff he'd apparently said, yet nobody saw fit to point out that the Tories were an existential threat to people of colour on the basis of stuff they'd actually fucking done. People died because of the Windrush scandal, and there were people homeless for years after Grenfell.
CavemanLynn
Corbyn actually had discussions with terrorists instead of gunning them down on sight in a fit of xenophobic fervour, so he was definitely a wrong'un.

I've seen plenty of people point out that Conservatives were a threat to certain segments of society. The truth is, the majority decided that the Tories were the lesser of two evils I think. Not in the media, and not in the constant, recurring way they were really pressing the antisemitism row. They made antisemitism central to the anti-Corbyn narrative, whereas Grenfell and Windrush were almost treated like "one and done". As to the electorate, it's one of the reasons why I consider half this country cunts, unequivocally. Brexit's one thing - there are genuine left-wing and progressive arguments for that. There's no fucking excuse for the justifications people were coming up with for Grenfell and Windrush.
