Christ, that reminds me of the time I went to my nan's years and years ago and she was watching Dynasty: The Making of a Guilty Pleasure on some cheap movie channel. Sort of thing you don't change the channel on because you're too tired to get out of the chair and completely ill-conceived.

This honestly sounds like THE worst concept for a TV show, who is paid to come up with this shit?!

I bet they don't kick those little shits up the arse for magic potions in it either.

Fucking Nora, so someone has basically put together a "comedy" fantasy cartoon and thought why not put a computer game name on it and people will watch right.

Seems an odd IP to use, weren't all games after 2 pretty poor and 2 just a reakin of 1? Not like Castlevania which has been popular for 40 years.

There was a little bit in the trailer where she was stomping on something or somebody and it was making the sound effect it did when you kicked the little bloke up the arse.

The panther guy from Golden Axe 3 turned up as well. That trailer was about as much of it as I could tolerate. They'd better have something pretty special planned if they're doing 22 minute episodes, and goodness knows how long a series would be.

Golden Axe 2 on Megadrive is pretty much the first one with different art and music. It turns out the axe had fallen into the hands of Death=Adder's boss, Death Bringer.

There's a Golden Axe 2 arcade game, Return of Death=Adder, which never got a proper home release unless you own an Astro City Arcade, but it's playable through MAME and is probably the best in the whole series.

Golden Axe 3 on Megadrive came out  around the same time as Streets Of Rage 3 so tried to do some of the stuff that did with the extra moves on the 6 button pad, but also tried to be more like the second arcade game with branching paths while failing to push the hardware very much. It's viewed as the worst one, which is a little unfair but I think it's because it was released so late in the Megadrive's life. It's available on those Megadrive compilations that they release on everything.

They also did a Golden Axe fighting game, Golden Axe: The Duel, which like most fighting games is good fun against another person, but has some ridiculously cheap input reading AI, as was the style of the time. It got a release on Saturn as well as in the arcades.

There was also Golden Axe Warrior on Master System, which was a Legend Of Zelda knockoff and Ax Battler: The Legend of Golden Axe on Game Gear, which was more like Adventures of Link with some side scrolling combat sections interrupting the top down exploration bits.

Sorry. Probably much more detail than anybody wanted or needed.

Love a lesson in gaming and I'd only ever recently played Golden Axe and done so on the Switch, it's solid enough but I never felt it jumped out at me (some 8bit and 16bit games do still). The game style is very much of its time and moved on significantly I suppose (I do actually enjoy scrolling beat em ups).

I love a good brawler. Have you played Absolom?

Megadrive Golden Axe is easily dealt with by just doing the running attack from side to side of the screen. Even works with the bosses in the most part. It's fine, but probably more important because its engine was used to make the first Streets Of Rage.

I had Ax Battler: Legend of Golden Axe. Fun little game, though it did end up dragging a bit near the end.

One of the odd things about it is that Death Adder is either not an individual person in its universe, or he is, but someone you bump into a lot, because I ended up fighting loads of random Death Adder encounters in the later stages. With all the level-ups, he becomes very easy to beat.
