Making Cody vs. Cena a Street Fight would normally set my Travis Scott Alarm off, but this week’s Observer makes it sound like the company have given up on him entirely.

With any luck, Cena will bust out one of his legendary blade jobs to save them from having a similar stinker to Wrestlemania. See if you can beat the JBL one. Every pint of blood adds at least a star to the match rating. It’s the law.

But yeah. Good shows. Bad shows. Booms. Creative slumps. It doesn’t matter. Cody Rhodes will always Cody Rhodes. Most ridiculous man to ever live.

The Hogan tribute was really well done, as you’d expect from this production team. Did laugh though at “Don’t like being on camera” HHH leading the ten bell salute and narrating the package though. Also the way they went “he also went to WCW for a bit” and skipped over when Hogan went over HHH for the belt. Also apparently his Netflix debut went really well for him.

Going from that to a Logan Paul vs Jelly Roll segment though was a brutal choice and enough to snap me back in reality and turn it off.

To be fair, I thought the segment was really good. Logan and Jelly Roll are both more charismatic and better promos than 95% of the WWE roster and they did a great job of building the SummerSlam match here.

I too put it on to see the Hogan tribute then started skim watching. Saw seasoned veteran Alexis Bliss let herself get distracted by her tag partner being roughed up in a one on one fight and jump out the ring instead of just winning the match first. Saw one of my least favourite tropes, wrestler getting a full entrance with music/video etc to walk down while a match is in progress. Saw Cody do some talking to build SummerSlam with the champion not in the building to offer a rebuttal. Gave up.

The only thing I saw that didn’t make me sigh with indifference or annoy me was Jade vs Chelsea, oddly enough.

I'd have got Michael Cole or something to narrate the tribute, but if Triple H didn't do it then this company would fall apart. That's how important he is to this business.

I’m not sure if they found some out of context clip from a segment or something but i’m sure the Mean Gene voice was AI.

Wouldn't be shocked. Didn't they use an AI of him and/or The Fink maybe for that Edge vs Orton "Greatest Match of All Time" thing during Covid?

I might be wrong, but I don’t think AI was quite at the level that would allow them to do that back then, although there’s every chance they used old clips or something.

The way they have split the Summerslam matches up looks awful.

All 3 tag matches on night one, all stipulation matches on night two.

Given that they made Summerslam a two night show, I fully expected them to build to it as if it were Wrestlemania, but @Supremo was right - they’ve arsed themselves over through counter-programming and everything feels so rushed and unimportant as a result.

Yeah, I agree. No idea who Jelly Roll is (which will almost certainly be a case of me being out of touch), but he’s been really good on the mic.

A brilliantly daft Talk Show angle and a tasty Black Hole Slam. I owe Jelly Roll an apology. I was not really familiar with your game.

They should stick the TLC on the Sunday and go all in with SummerSlam: New Jersey: Night 2: Extreme Rules

Logan taking heat right away by saying they were chanting “Thank you, Logan” 5 minutes ago cracked me up.
