Wideload90 Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 One of the greatest comedies of all time. I don't care what you say, anything that features the phrase 'Foxy sly old stoatey stoat seeks pig' is glorious. Isn't that right doctor? Quote
King Coconut Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Showed my 10 year old son the chess scene last week. It was a beautiful moment. Quote

Loki Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I think Bottom might be my favourite comedy series of all time. A lot of "classic" series have aged rather poorly, but Bottom seems to exist in its own continuum. I think the fact that nobody really does slapstick any more means it's sort of a singular anomaly. The mix of the profoundly sad state they live in with the very studiously crafted slapstick violence, and that wonderful nihilistic script. Almost every episode is perfect. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 "Lieutenant Sex Machine, Homicide! Yeah, what time? Damn! I'm gonna nail this sick mother even if the D.A. takes my badge! Chief just give me 24 Hours." Quote
Paid Members Wretch Posted August 19, 2018 Paid Members Posted August 19, 2018 Watched it with my old man when I was a kid during it's original run and still adore it now. My go to if I've got an hour spare is a couple of episodes of Bottom. Quote
Paid Members Accident Prone Posted August 19, 2018 Paid Members Posted August 19, 2018 Can we get some love for the live shows? The later ones were a bit shit (but "a bit shit" featuring Ade and Rik is still better than most people at their best) but the first two live shows are fucking fantastic. It's Bottom in it's purest form, as well as Ade and Rik at the absolute top of their game. "Now you listen to me buster...you're just a door...I'm Rik FUCKING Mayall! Now close!". Quote
D@mm Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Yeah the first couple of live shows are really fun, I really enjoyed the bloopers in the first one, Rik trying to hold it together while Ade takes the piss is hilarious. Quote
Paid Members Nexus Posted August 20, 2018 Paid Members Posted August 20, 2018 Bottom is up there in my top 10 TV shows. The Culture episode is the one I enjoy most, particularly the aforementioned Chess scene. Another great scene is them tied up after the burglary and the way that episode ends. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted August 20, 2018 Paid Members Posted August 20, 2018 The crossword dialogue in Culture always cracks me up, as does the "duck" conversation in Carnival. It wasn't just two blokes hitting each other with frying pans, it also had some very clever writing. There are several phrases from the show which have worked their way into my everyday lexicon. "Kenneth Clarke... Kenneth Clarke..... JOHN SELWYN GUMMER!" Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted August 20, 2018 Author Paid Members Posted August 20, 2018 If you don't spend half your Christmas Day quoting bits from Holy then you're doing Christmas wrong. "No! One." Quote

"No! One." Yep! Every single Christmas Day since I can remember has included a loud rendition of, "Half past eight! And all's crap!". Quote
