There's a chippy called Fishers in Hazel Grove not far from here, which I'm assuming is not connected to the London one, but it is also a cracking chippy.

Can't say I've been thrilled by Gary lately. Feels like the fame is getting to his head a bit and instead of travelling the country doing little greasy spoons and burger vans he's constantly at expensive steakhouses and The Ritz, but he'll shot a chippy in now and again to try and hide the fact.

I can't get on with him at all. I know he's got a few fans on here and, according to all the Youtube comments etc, he's the loveliest gent, but I find something really disconcerting about him that I just can't put my finger on.

Miles better than that Jonny 'banging' bloke who keeps popping up on my Facebook feed mind, or the Peter Kay fold-away table fella whose one chippy tea away from an heart attack.

We watched a couple of videos of the fold-away table fella because he was in my town once. Immediately unlikeable and like you say, he’s teetering on the edge. A very uncomfortable watch.

That looked really nice but I just can't see gravy going with fish and chips. If the tartare sauce is home made then that's what makes it for me. Mushy peas definitely if they're nice and thick. I can get on board with chips shop curry sauce as well. But gravy?!

What does this mean?

I think he’s referring to the fact that the cameraman is his son.

There was a post before mine saying he seems like the kinda guy to take a bath with his family.

But yeah his recent push to only really going to expensive places is boring, he's still the best of a bad bunch though.. I can't get along with any of the other food reviews in this style. "Greeno" keeps popping up on my feed and there's just something really off about him.

Gary did a video with Greeno a couple of months back and has since referred to him as "my mate Greeno". He did one with some guy the other week that only makes curries and seems like the most boring man on the planet. The thought of being stuck in his kitchen with him and Gary was giving me nightmares.

I'm in Romney Sands in Kent at a Parkdean caravan park for my wife's 40th (I offered a multitude of other options but this was what she wanted to do) and she wanted a birthday chippy tea. We went to New Romney Fish and Chips (apparently they won an award from Sarsons, not sure that means much), was a bit pricey but well worth it. Massive portions, perfectly crispy batter, excellent battered sausage, which we split. Cracking stuff.

Gary Eats is probably the best of our bunch of YouTube restaurant/fast food/ greasy spoon reviewer's. He seems nice enough but I can see why people find him a little off. I can't binge watch his videos tbh, happy to watch one then not watch another for a while. His style is a little bit forced.

Shame if he has gone bougie lol. Last video of his I saw was at Fallow which did look decent I admit.

He's put one up this evening where he reviews a café that apparently does the cheapest breakfast in London at £4.50. They also do a Sunday roast for £6.00. Looks pretty decent as well.

Gary is a horndog, he was totally loving that attention from the admittedly very cute lass that recognized him.

Back to chippies, has anyone ever got one of those "Too Good To Go" app deals from one? There's a local or two that do around £10 worth of leftovers for £3.

Never tried it for a chippy but id say that my Too Good To Go hit rate is pretty decent. £3 is worth the gamble

Turns out that he had a stroke last year and has been left with brain damage, which is why he looks a bit of a state these days. You'd think he would lay off the takeaways now but apparently not.

It's really quite horrible seeing somebody slowly eat their way to death.

Sorry, realised that was a bit heavy for the Chippy Tea thread. Erm, I had a saveloy last week and it was nice?
