Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted October 13, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 13, 2024 Curry sauce placement looks a bit suspect, but this was top notch after a breezy walk and a couple of pints. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted October 13, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 13, 2024 The curry sauce is the only fucker looking right on that plate. Shocking. Quote
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted October 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 14, 2024 (edited) To be honest, I was surprised at how many positive reactions I got to a homemade Chippy Tea from Aldi. Thunderplex is correct about the sauce. I'm pretty sure all Chippies/Chinese takeaways up and down the country use it. This and the 'not so hot' version are absolutely recommended. Get them from B&M. Cousin Jim Bob Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Mayflower Extra Hot makes a great lazy curry to use up leftover roast chicken. Takes about 5 minutes. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted October 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 14, 2024 I use the mild a lot, it’s lovely over a pile of crisp oven chips done in the airfryer. I add a pinch of MSG and a teaspoon of Jimmys Satay sauce to it. Spiffing. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted October 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 14, 2024 Medium for us. Great with chips, rice and big thick cut onions. Quote
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted October 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 14, 2024 Medium is absolutely the sweet spot and most likely what the Chippies are using. Only got the extra hot to try it but will revert back. Still good eats though. Chippy Tea approved. Quote
davertfnewman Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 My dad uses that sauce for curries, it's really nice. Only trouble is that a while back he got a bit adventurous and started adding chilli powder to it, so I was having to double up on my drinks. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) Got recommended a little place by forum veteran @Bus Surferthis morning as I was working close to where he resides, so I got myself down there for lunch: Large chips, jumbo sausage and a bread roll. Lovely lunch, the highlight was clearly the sausage, just look at the thing. I left a few chips but managed to get the whole sausage down me. Needless to say, I didn't get much work done this afternoon. I may go back later in the week for a battered jumbo. Cheers Bus. Edited October 15, 2024 by Egg Shen Quote
Paid Members Callum1993 Posted October 19, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 19, 2024 Appear to have been sent Whale and Chips tonight. Fantastic though. Quote
Merzbow Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 The curry mix powder has barely seen any water, but I'm not against it being that thick. Quote

Cousin Jim Bob Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 @air_raid A heads up mate as I'm sure you said Yorkshire Fisheries was your go to when you visit Blackpool. The owners are selling up and moving on. It is always a bit of a worry when that happens as the quality can fall of a cliff. Blackpool isn't exactly short of very good chippies but would be a shame if Yorkshire Fisheries went downhill. Quote
