I was a bit disappointed in the first one. It's not bad or anything but James Wan has done some excellent schlocky horror and following the absolute glorious lunacy of Malignant with a fairly by the numbers evil toy/AI just felt a bit too standard. Not to say everything has to subvert, but it felt fairly standard plot-wise and style-wise  (Conjuring is fairly standard haunted house but it's made so much better by the mood and moments Wan created). M3gan has some cool bits, particuarly her voice basically being a Gen Z/dissafected teen parody (as it'd be trained on social media) and the Skatt Bros scene was good but I wanted more of that and didn't feel like I got it.

This on the other hand looks like it's fully embraced the crazy and campy and am definitely up for that...

M3gan was my daughter’s gateway into horror (after watching Stranger Things I thought this was on a par with the gore, spookiness). She dressed up as M3gan for Halloween and insisted I met the M3gan’s at Halloween Horror Nights that year

So needless to say she’s excited for this and if it’s a 12a this time (first was a PG-13 over there), will be a daddy daughter date at the cinema.

It looks absolutely fine to scratch that Austin Powers/Scary Movie style spoof comedy itch. That being said, the trailer I think just showed every joke in the film.

I absolutely hate comedy trailers for this reason. They're rarely subtle. They'll show all the best bits. I get they want to hook people but I often feel duped.
