Exeter's manager, very briefly the longest-serving in English football after Wenger left, has quit. Despite him being our most successful manager ever, I'm very pleased! He's being heavily linked with the MK Dons job, let's see how they cope with his unique brand of soul-destroying football, one up front, no wingers and stupidly cautious tactics.

Nope - given his pre- and post-match comments about how he's been treated, any affection I had for him is long gone. The whole build-up to the play-off final was all about how stupid the fans were to serve notice on his contract, the media bought into him as a poorly treated, long-serving employee who the fans didn't deserve, whilst ignoring the context of why the notice was served in 2016:

He had a two year rolling contract, which, given our lack of money and interest from any other clubs in employing him, made him virtually unsackable.

We'd won less than 40 home games in the 5 seasons proceeding that.

We were 23rd in the league and on a terrible run.

The way he sets teams up is not to win, just to not lose. His preferred line-up is 4-1-4-1

He signed two WBA players on loan, Kane Wilson and Kyle Edwards, and then barely played either of them. Kane Wilson, in particular, will be a damned good right-back.

Any other manager would have been sacked long before this!

Apologies, this turned into a bit of a rant, but a lot of Exeter fans who supported him before have turned against hugely in the build-up to the play-offs and his post-match behaviour.

Has anyone other than Wolves fans been following or heard of the Rui Patricio to Wolves debacle? It's truly mental.

Wolves had put in a bid for Patricio, but so did Napoli and they were then favourites to sign him. Why anyone would pick Naples over Wolvo I don't know though.

Ancelotti comes in as manager and doesn't want him so cancels the deal.

Wolves come back in with around an 18 million bid. It's accepted by Sporting, terms are agreed and Patricio apparently even passes a medical.

Sporting then come back and ask for 2 mil extra. Wolves' Chinese owners and their pride say fuck off.

Patricio puts in paperwork and cancels his contract citing fear of life after being attacked, and he can sign for Wolves for nothing.

Sporting claim the extra money was due to Mendes taking 7mil for himself.

Gestifute claim it's 4mil owed by Sporting for Adrien's move to Leicester and then 3mil for the Patricio deal as they are part owned.

It's a bonkers move for sure.

Best of luck to you Grecian, Exeter is a great club but, honestly, that reads like the sort of stuff you hear before a club gets a reality check. Not saying you won't get someone better but from the outside, he was doing a grand job on a very average budget. Things hit the skids and he built another team and got to Wembley twice. Be a very interestig time now. It's very rare that a club loses a relatively successful manager and finds a better one. Not unheard of though. Leicester and Southampton have both done it most obviously and recently.

Has he managed to successfully do this? I read about the debacle at Sporting and that the players were trying to find release clauses but I hadn't heard anything for a week or two. Some serious talent will be available if so, in particular Pornstache Will C.

Leeds United have sacked Paul Heckingbottom after four months in charge. Vintage Leeds. Apparently, the favourite to get to the job is Marcelo Bielsa! It won't happen but I really hope it does so I can chuckle at the massive implosion come November.

William Carvalho has apparently done the same within the last hour.

Gelson Martin's is considering it also.

That's two top talents available for nowt. Sporting may have exploded..

Why are all of Sporting Lisbon's players leaving, is it something to do with the owner then ?

When they didn’t qualify for the Champs League a group of 50 hooded ‘fans’ stormed the training ground and attacked the players. They can now terminate their contracts at will.

The sporting president 'allegedly' instructed their ultras to invade the training ground and assault the squad and manager, for reasons unbeknownst to any rational person.

Not the owner, but the president. It turns out he's fucking mental.

There's been many things going wrong because of the actions of the president. A few weeks back Sporting threw away their chance of winning the league, a number of the squad were then physically attacked by 'fans' at the training ground. It's alleged by a number of people around the club that the president may very well have been in on the attack of his players.

Patricio has released some letters the president sent him to validate his contract termination to the fans, and he's quite clearly unhinged.

Didn't he claim to have suspended the starting XI after they lost a key game or something, only for the coach to go against it and select them anyway? By all accounts he sounds barmy.

West Ham trying to get Pastore for €20 apparently. Could be a good signing, he's way down the pecking order at PSG these days.
