Charles Bradley was amazing, really upset to hear that he'd passed away. He does an astonishingly good cover of "Stay Away" by Nirvana. Friend of mine saw him in New York years ago, said he hugged everybody in the room at the end of the gig.

Very sad news about Charles Bradley. A great old school style soul vocalist who deserved to be a bigger star. His label mate at Daptone Sharon Jones passed away last year too who was also a great vocalist and is sadly missed. Shame they never put out a Otis/Carla Thomas King and Queen type album as they were both super talented. Interesting article about Charles here

RIP Charles Bradley

He was also Cherie Blair's dad.

And his Wikipedia tells me this;

Quote

Booth nearly burned to death in November 1979 when, during a drunken attempt to get into his locked flat, he fell into a drum of paraffin.

Which only raises more questions.

As Bomber Pat said, he was Cherie Blair's dad, but more importantly, he was in the Confessions films with Sir Robin Asquith.

After he knackered himself up with paraffin, he was nursed back to health by Pat Phoenix. That's a fun detail.

Nursed out of actual ashes by an actual Phoenix.

Hugh Hefner, sent to the big grotto in the sky at 91; stellar innings for a smut peddler.

No one can say he’s in a better place now.  Thanks for the mammaries, teenage life was a lot easier thanks to him.
