I've been following someone on Twitter for a few years and they've gradually gone full gamergate. It's a very disturbing world.

There's a bloke who used to work with my brother who's done the same. Went from a fairly left wing type to, gradually edging rightwards over the course of the last couple of years, to the point that he's now defending Tommy Robinson, going on "Freedom Marches", and posting at least once a day about how "feminists" are just looking for things to be offended by, all while being shocked and offended by whatever made up bit of outrage he's found, and not seeing the irony. It's been quite unsettling to see the transition.

Fucking hell. People need to get a grip.

I think that's exactly what they don't need to do...

Personally, I wasn't a big fan of this trailer as the series seems to be edging more towards Torture Porn and shock for the sake shock. I get that you want to show humanity at it's worse but it feels like the writers have lost what made TLOU so good in the first the place. Remember the first trailer, where we were horrified to the core at the simple clip of an enemy begging for mercy before you shot him in the face? And now it's like "Hey there's a woman having her arm broke with a hammer and a guy being viciously stabbed as his innards fall out". I hope these are just exceptions and not in the game throughout.

But I'm a wimp when it comes to most horror these days so I'm probably in the minority.

Actually, what made TLOU so good was the relationship and story between Joel and Ellie. As long as that continues, everything else is just filler. There were plenty of horrific moments in the first, all of which played into that story. I'm not fussed about how horrific it may be, I just want more Joel and Ellie.

The weakest part of the first game was the gameplay itself. It wasn't awful, but if the story wasn't as strong as it was then it would have ended up in the bargain bin within a few months.

Oh, I'm not doubting that the story wasn't the main reason behind TLOU being as great as it was. And yes, everything (mostly) had a point and had it's place. But going from this trailer, it looks like they're going down the extreme violence/shock gore path more than focusing on story. Again, I'm probably in the minority as I'm not a fan of today's visceral, gory horror movies/thrillers, and it is only trailer and the end product could be vastly different, I'm just voicing my own personal concern.

Have you watched any of the previous trailers? It doesn't look any less story-driven than the first. I think the purpose of this trailer was to showcase the gameplay, and using what looks like an intense scene to highlight the changes, strengths and variety of fighting/defending abilities.

I thought it was great.

Again, from the two trailers I have seen, it doesn't look like it's for me. I'm not saying that it's all bad, as I like a lot of what they've shown so far, but it does look like they're taking the ShockHorrorGore route, whereas the first game felt more like The Road and hinged itself more on atmosphere and intensity. But I'll have to fully judge when the game is released and I get a more informed opinion before buying it.

I'd imagine they're showing off the gorier and more violent aspects as that's what they think the typical gamer wants (the kiss gets them huge attention) although I am curious as to how the writing is going with two writers now instead of just Neil from the first game. Halley Gross doesn't seem to have any videogame experience but she's written for Westworld and some new Winding Refn show.

Lots of stuff on sale on Steam. I was able to pick up VoiceAttack at 50% off, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for £2.50 and Emperyion: Galactic Survival for £7. I also bought the ASTRA and William Shatner AI HCS packs for Elite Dangerous to make my Elite VR experience much more fun, but those weren't on Steam or on sale. I've also got a HOTAS joystick and throttle coming for Elite on Sunday. I am going to immersive myself inside Elite VR as much as I can and ditching mouse and keyboard for a HOTAS and voice commands with rudimentary AI is going to do that for me!

Detroit: Become Human was pretty decent. Connor's story was great, I became really invested in Kara's by the end too (keeping a small child out of harms way is always a cheap but effective way of making me care). Markus was a severe gimp, but after trying and failing to get him killed early on I sent him down the Malcolm X/Terminator love-child route killing as many humans as possible and his story became tolerable as well.

I've been watching some of the alternate endings on Youtube and it's crazy just how many different ways the story can go. I wish choices in Telltale games mattered this much.

i'm not really a Twitch guy but Amazon is offering it's Prime customers two weeks of free games via Twitch if you link your Amazon and Twitch accounts. I'm not sure if I have to pay extra for Twitch Prime or not, as I'm already an Amazon Prime customer...I think not, but I'm not totally clear.

You don't pay any extra, you just link your Prime to your Twitch account and there's some bloody good games there too. Both Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny are like those old Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale RPG's.

How good is the new Fire Pro?

For someone that has never played the series before ?

Looking forward to the PS4 release

I haven't played the new one, but if it's like the others the learning curve is vertical. It's not for everyone, but if you get the grapple system there's no finer simulation of actual wrestling.

Got a PS4 coming tomorrow with Horizon: Zero Dawn, Overwatch and Crash Bandicoot trilogy. Looking forwards to getting back into gaming after a couple of years in the wilderness. Any recommendations on games I can pick up? Preferably something that's been out a few years which would be available on the cheap.

I'm a big fan of platformers and action/adventure games, but don't really have enough time to sink into those big open-world RPGs. Also not into your Dark Souls/Niohs and the like.

Thanks in advance.
