I love the fact that people keep learning Andrew WK is married to Kat Dennings. It’s not like either are A listers so why does this info keep coming up haha.

I’m going to listen to some Andrew WK this morning to get me in the Friday feeling

This one is a bit random but TIL that Preston from The Ordinary Boys wrote a song called Live Forever which was about his experience falling from a balcony and nearly dying, he gave that song to Liam Payne who recorded and released it. And then fell from a balcony and died.

I slightly resembled Preston in my earlier years (not much at all to be honest, but similar eyebrow shape, hair style and dress sense as I was an absolute LADLADLAD)

Anyway long story short, a very drunk (I mean they were really off their nut) group of girls came up to me in Camden at the height of his fame, gave it the whole "ohmygoditsPreston!!!" asked for an autograph (maybe even a photo can't remember) and I wrote "Preston...OB" on one of their arms as I didn't even know his surname.

This all happened so fast and they were off in a whirlwind (honestly must've all been over in maybe 10 seconds) and the friend I was with just stood stunned and she still ribs me about to this day.

I've often wondered why I didn't just tell them I wasn't Preston, but 1.) I genuinely didn't have time, 2.) I'm introverted but I often like to be the centre of attention and 3.) Funny innit.

Boys will be boys.

I had the exact same experience in Snobs in my early/mid-20s, but to this day I have no idea who the very drunk group of girls thought I was. They were excited, asked for my autograph (I just scribbled nonsense, the same way all fucking autographs look), and then they went on their way within seconds. I had long dark hair back then, and I was in a shitty indie club, so I assume it was some Channel Dave panel show regular but fuck if I know. It was right outside the men's toilets too (the one with the "No spray, no lay!" perfume pusher) and I had no one with me to confirm what the fuck just happened.

One more, from 2018, I was in a bar in New Orleans (you can do the math to figure out why I was there!), and now my hair was much shorter and greyer, and this unknown couple kept eyeing me up and buying me drinks from across the bar. Quids in if I were single! But alas, I found out later from the barman that they thought I was "the Irish guy from God Particle" despite having an accent that deeply cemented myself within the borders of English England.

Apparently I now look like the guy who got caught canoodling at a Coldplay gig, so I'm growing my hair out so that I don't get mistaken for him in the wild. Can't be having anyone think that I like Coldplay, that would be a disgrace.

His surname is Preston, first name is Samuel.

I think the mod soul boy look was a bit of a gimmick for the Ordinary Boys.

Bit like Donny Tourette & The Towers of London. Middle class upbringing, use to go round the corner to Leo Sayers mansion for afternoon tea. Dad was a church warden and sister was/is a TV exec. Hence why they got a TV doc as a newish band with 1 top 30 song. He now works as a TV exec himself for Sky

One of my favourite little bits of trivia about Andrew WK was that he was a member of occult folk band Current 93 at the same time as Sasha Grey (yes, that one).

He also did an entire Japanese only covers album for the 30th anniversary of Gundam, completely official.

Did they specifically say from the Ordinary Boys?

Saw the Towers of London (supporting The Wildhearts) a few years back when they made a half arsed comeback, thought they were pretty good to be fair.

There was a documentary in the works about the band, as far as i'm aware though it never came out.

Murray Walker worked in advertising in the 1960s, and one of the slogans he came up with was "a Mars a day helps you work, rest, and play."

Strictly speaking it's a yesterday I learned, but there's an entire series of Scorpion King films.  Apart from the original with The Rock in they all appear to be straight to video jobs.  Weirdly, they've all got wrestlers and/or MMA people in them.

Wellard the dog from Stenders was Maximus' dog in Gladiator.

Imagine that, being owned by one of the most iconic characters to ever grace the screen, and Maximus.
