Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted May 24 Posted May 24 (edited) Lucy Davis from out of The Office's dad is Jasper Carrot's daughter As an aside, I also learnt that isnt his real name! Edited May 24 by Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Quote
davertfnewman Posted May 25 Posted May 25 She says similar on the Office DVD: "A lot of people ask me why I went with Davis instead of Carrott... not thinking that Carrott wasn't the real name." Quote

Similarly, the same snare drum (a 1980 Tama Bell Brass, nicknamed "The Terminator") was used on Nevermind by Nirvana, Black Album by Metallica, Smash by Offspring, The Colour and The Shape by Foo Fighters and the Rage Against The Machine self titled record. Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 28 Paid Members Posted May 28 there's a really good episode of the Omnibus podcast about that drum. They talk about how the talk about The Offspring at the time was that they were this break-out punk band who never expected to get big, but basically argue they wouldn't have used that drum if they weren't aiming for that level of success. Paid Members air_raid Posted June 7 Paid Members Posted June 7 TIL that the reason the vocals on (the final, released version of) Ride On Time by Black Box always put me in mind of Heather Small, is that they are Heather Small. Now I feel dumb. Quote

Paid Members Carbomb Posted June 7 Paid Members Posted June 7 I'd fallen victim to the clickbait articles that said that it was all one particular singer, who'd sang in Ride On Time, The Power, and Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), and who'd been repeatedly screwed over by being replaced in the music videos with models, because she herself didn't look glamorous. I knew that Heather sang on Ride On Time, but had heard that this was only on live performances. So today is Big Learning Day! Quote
wordsfromlee Posted June 7 Posted June 7 It depends on which version of 'Ride on Time' you listen to. The original version uses the Loleatta Holloway sample. Black Box ended up getting sued for using it so they pulled the single from sale, re-recorded the vocal sample with Heather Smalls in an hour and re-released the song. This is the original version (along with awful music video): Quote

Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 8 Paid Members Posted June 8 In spite of the narrator voice over guy saying "ten years ago" and the first series of the A-Team being made and going out originally in 1982-3, the series is actually based in 1977. There are a load of mistakes like that in the show, which I guess could also explain why the narration was changed to "In 1972" from series 2 onwards. The whole show takes place across the turn of the 80s. There are references to it being set in the 70s, but also a lot talking about it being the 80s. Quote
