Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 8, 2019 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 8, 2019 think we've spoken about it here before, but does anyone listen to the That's Not Metal podcast here? ive not been listening to the past 6 months or so but dipped back in to listen to their album of the year show which was great last year. I got half hour in before i had to give up, the two new hosts are terrible. I know Beez isnt to everyones tastes but hes been saddled with two duds there. Ones a pretentious metal head and the other guy just has a voice that isnt fit for podcasting, shame because the old show was a great listen. Stephen Hill's (the old That's Not Metal host) new show Riot Act is much better. Makes me realise it was probably Hill i was always more a fan of. Hill & Beez were a good double act though. I used to listen to TNM but sacked it off after Beez scammed a load of fans for money and had a meltdown on the Download Forums when people started calling him out for it. It was a shame as he introduced me to tonnes of my now favourite bands but in the end he's just a scummy little rat. He's apparently running an Indy wrestling promotion now which should be an ideal fit for him.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 8, 2019 Author Paid Members Share Posted January 8, 2019 was that last year? i know he tried to put together some kind of mental Patreon service for the show which so far beyond what was achievable that it was inevitable it would fail. Then next thing i knew he'd just gone back to the single show with two new hosts. I went on the facebook page and asked what had led to the split and got met with a bunch of 'let it lie' type posts but i genuinely still dont know what happened. Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted January 8, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted January 8, 2019 I am overjoyed at that line up so far. I absolutely love Phoxjaw, Muncie Girls, Milk Teeth and have been listening to a lot of Single Mothers lately as well so that already combined with being able to get tickets at a reduced rate and living so close to the venue is great. Really excited for Frank Iero's new venture, Every Time I Die will probably end up being band of the weekend and YMAS will appeal to the teenage me and amazingly are a band I've loved for years but am yet to see live. Doing VIP again this year after a few years away as it should tie in to the vlog I'm starting about everyday life with Aspergers and still going to shows, festivals, wrestling events and the likes despite the whole huge anxiety thing. But absolutely happy with that if it is the real first announcement.

Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 9, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted January 9, 2019 Saw this on Twitter last night; Not familiar with their work, but a podcast on nothing but the Merzbox sounds absurd and brilliant.
lightningxlock
I remember once upon a time I flirted with buying the Merzbox. I've since recovered from that bout of insanity. I don't mind some noise. Went through a spell of listening to Wolf Eyes and Masonna and the like. It's very much a 'in small doses' genre for me though.
Merzbow
Did someone call me? metal.txt is often pretty funny so I'll be checking that out if it actually happens. I go through phases of listening to noise/death industrial etc but recently I've been digging more accessible and maybe better produced albums by the likes of Pharmakon, Puce Mary and Lana Del Rabies. They're all women too and I've been noticing how much better the genre is when you take out the dodgy white dudes who posture with sad act BDSM gimmicks, for example the latest Puce Mary album is bloody gorgeous with tonnes of layers to it. And oh! There's a new Test Dept album coming out in March, the perfect time for some socialist working class industrial bangers. He runs a site called Track Seven which is really good and has had something’s in Rolling Stone and a few other big ones. Well worth a follow on Twitter and he handles bookings for Tufnell Dome and Boston Music Rooms.
Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted January 9, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted January 9, 2019 (edited) Jonathan Davies is recording vocals for a new Korn album. His estranged wife recently passed away. He had a restraining order out against her due to her mental health, and didn’t want her near the kids. She died following an apparent accidental overdose. Can’t inagine this being anything less than classic route one emotional Davies, with his raw feelings fully on display. Album is due out this year, they’ve been announced as headliners for the Welcone to Rockwell and the Epicentre USA festivals. I imagine they’ll be over here too, so if things don’t clash, they’re a potential fair shout for UK metal festivals. Head has also stated they have a few tricks up their sleeve in regards to the new album that fans will apparently love. I can only assume they’ve either got some familiar special guests involved, or possibly a rework of some Korn classics.
