The Avatar movies are the film industry equivalent of Coldplay. Made ridiculous money but like hell can find someone (other than a handful in this thread apparently) who either likes them or in even seen them. The Electric State and The Tomorrow War definitely spring to mind. $320 million budget for The Electric State and I couldn’t tell you a single thing about it or know a single person who’s seen it. Amazon paid $200 million for the rights to The Tomorrow War to get it from Paramount after it just sat in a draw for ages as everyone waited for Covid to pass. All over the front of Prime for a few weeks, then vanished without a trace and never spoken of again Back in the day you knew you were a big movie because you got parodied on pretty much everything. Just think back to the early 00s and how many times you saw some show do Matrix style Bullet Time. Stuff comes and goes so quickly now shows barely have time to parody most things Quote

It was alright and it did alright and nobody's talked about it since. Quote

I used to adore that movie and it's soundtrack when it first came out. I was about 17 at the time, the perfect age and circumstance to get suckered in by all the "indy movie featuring Manic Pixie Dream Girl" stuff. I haven't seen it for close to 20 years now and I don't want to as I know I'll hate it and it'll ruin the nostalgic memories I have for it. I'd rather never seen it again and still be able to listen to 'Only Living Boy in New York' by Simon & Garfunkel and remember those college years, untainted. Quote

Reading this reminded me there was a Charlies Angels reboot a few years back that just didn't catch on or seem to get any traction at all. Quote
