WWE WrestleMania Vegas (42) Discussion

The Punk v Roman match pretty much saved the entire event for me. Fantastic match, surpassed all expectations. 

If it wasn't for that it definitely would've been a real bottom of the barrel Mania for me, certainly in modern times. Things weren't terrible per say but everything just felt so unspectacular and like an extended episode of TV`. 

Night 2 was definitely stronger than night 1 though.

Most noticeable thing for me over the two nights was the lack of video packages building up the matches. Only both main events had them.

It used to be that you could just not bother with the weeklys, watch the PPV and the hype packages would do a cracking job in 2 minutes explaining everything to get you into the match, now they dont bother. I noticed a few were on YouTube but who's watching that then watching the match?! Seems mad that they've stopped that after all the amazing hype packages over the years etc. Shame.

I'm a big Punk mark and loved the main event, heart wanted Punk to win but head says it was the right result. At the 3 count my daughter said "that was a very good match"...yes...yes it was. Proud dad moment, she gets it, the education has been worthwhile. 

Hated the Danhausen bit, typical WWE not getting why he worked in the past, I thought they had at at first but this is not it....he works because he thinks what he is doing is semi normal, turning him into an unaware slapstick creation will kill him dead. 

My highlight of the weekend was Finn with his scary cosplay though, not only did he feel the need to have DEMON! written on his back...grrr scary, but my girls kept saying they thought he was a "furry", which apparently is like those weirdos on channel 4 who believe they are cats...immense.

No, I think people felt that way about 40, when Cody winning the title closed the show.

Completely disagree. It is working. The crowd ate it up. His merch was flying. Might not work for you personally but they're getting it completely right for a large part of their audience.

I thought they had been doing a great job with him until this weekend, it just felt to much when they said he had his Danhausen mobile...hope to be proven wrong. Glad you've enjoyed the experience 🙂

Agree with @DavidB6937 on this one, he was brought in purely to make shit loads of money for them(and himself I hope) through his merchandise, and it's a bit of fun which in the current state of the world it's very much needed. Gotta love Danhausen and the crowds seem to so good on him, and barely taken any bumps whilst doing it, very smarthausen( sorry in advance, no need to think I'm a twathausen(

Back on topic though, Punk had a cracker in the Summerslam main, and now the Mania main. And to think some people thought he was Antii Niemi.

It was absolutely shite. He'll be Hornswoggle by the summer if they keep producing this garbage. The guy is a delight and has great instincts. So far I've seen him try to deliver one of their always unfunny toilet jokes and then channel the spirit of Hillbilly Jim. They don't know when they have a good thing.

Never been a huge fan of her work, but always got time for her. Can't believe that shitbag Rollins married her. No justice in the world.

Once you've gone down the route of little people = funny, you are flogging a dead (cursed?) horse. Other hallmarks of shit comedy were there, little car, Miz. Complete garbage,.

He's been interacting with Miz for weeks and it's been working well for him. Granted the little people stuff always feels very out of touch. But he got a segment with Cena at Mania. I think he's doing just fine.

Danhausen is really good, but he's in WWE and they will absolutely fuck it up eventually, it's the only stuff I've been catching online because I'm so I'm interested to see how he does and it's just about getting to the place of becoming a bit stale because of their smack on you the head with the joke mentality. But he's a canny performer so I really hope he can navigate around it. Unless he's just cashing the cheques. Fair fucks if he is.

I just don't find Danhausen funny. At all really. I laughed at him a few times during his AEW run, but looking back it was the moments his character was juxtaposed with others that got me - him standing next to a nonplussed Orange Cassidy, or teaming with the hard-as-nails Hook. Him on his own doing the curse thing does nothing for me at all, and pairing him with the eternally boring Miz and Corporate Robot John is a recipe for a shite segment. 

The broader WWE crowd do seem to be getting on board with him, mind, but he does nothing for me.
