WWE Crown Jewel (PERTH) 2025 Discussion

Well that was fantastic. What a great show.

First of all, the crowd. Absolutely feverish the whole event, and everyone wearing that yellow shirt made it look like a massive away end. And to stick with the analogy, the atmosphere was like a lower league Cup tie vs the usual Premier League apathy and no noise we usually get. Just having the time of their lives. Makes such a difference.

Reigns vs Reed was great, and the rest was good but that Cena/Styles match was utterly brilliant.

Maybe it's just as I get older, but I actually got really emotional during Cenas entrance and intro.

Perhaps it was his genuine reaction when hs came out, but it was more the fact that some of the fans have probably waited their whole lives to see him, and now that's the last time. Styles saying "oh shit" again as a genuine reaction to the Bullet Club popped me big time, and then the match. 

I think it's because I only watch wrestling once in a while (this is the first time since Summerslam) that helps, but I just absolutely loved it.

The Wyatt tribute got me again big time, but then I was pissing myself at Cenas spot on Orton impression and then when we got to the 619 bit I was laughing out loud. Made me remember why I love/d wrestling so much. Give it a hundred stars.

I didn't even hate the commentary this event, although hearing that shit Green Day song throughout didn't help. But being able to zip through all the adverts and gumph and just watch the matches makes these shows so easy to watch.

Put another shrimp on the barbyyyyyy and give them a Mania.

They’re having it and that’s all that matters.

It amuses me when fans ignore night one as a main event when the people within the industry widely acknowledge it as one. It is one thing that is purely a fan thing rather than actually real. I don’t think I’ve seen and think you’d really struggle to find a single person in the industry deny Kevin Owens has been main event of WrestleMania.

Haven't seen the show outside of one single clip - what the fuck was that coast to coast headbutt all about? Either it was a botch of something or one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen.

Whole main event felt like Seth Rollins either trying to prove something or having a sulk on because Cena and AJ Styles were given free rein to piss about and steal the show. Crazy Coast-to-Coast Headbutts and kicking out of a Top Rope Cross Rhodes.

Whatever Seth was trying to achieve, it just crystallised what everyone already knows about him. The man doesn’t have it. He’s completely incapable of making you lose yourself in the fiction or engage on any level beyond watching moves happen in front of you. I feel nothing for the man. Even in there with Cody, who’s got better chemistry with him than most. He’s crap. A complete phoney. An ROH midcarder who somehow scammed his way to the top.

Even the daft clothes. Sometimes I forget and just accept it, and then other times like on this show, when he’s standing in the ring waiting for Cody’s entrance, you’re suddenly reminded how there’s absolutely no charm or irony in him dressing like this. He’s the antithesis of Nick Jackson. He’s the most tragic student wearing the whackiest outfit possible during Fresher’s Week, to unsuccessfully prove how crazy and funny he is. The ultimate loser.

It was a good show. A huge step up from Wrestlepalooza.

Solid opener. Funny that the dramatic twist they’ve gone with is Roman being disappointed with the Usos and telling them, “I don’t want to see you until Christmas.” With Roman’s schedule, that probably only means keeping their nose out of one or two matches, maximum.

Surprising result though. I assume Bronson Reed will spam the fact that he beat Roman, similar to how Y2J never shut up about beating Rock and Stone Cold in one night. At least they’re trying to go all the way with someone new.

Triple H doing nothing to squash the reports in this week’s Observer that he desperately wants to be WWE’s version of Dana White. In there with the massive Growth Hormone Funko Pop head, strapping belts around winners. Like the Fake Diesel and Fake Razor Ramon version of Dana White. Tragic. Wouldn’t be at all shocked if that becomes a thing for all main events going forward.

Heard reports that they sent someone out to sing the American National Anthem and it got booed out of the building. Very on brand for the MAGA company to not even anticpate that.

Astonished CM Punk didn’t run in during the Seth match. I’m sure we’ll be back to business for Raw. The Neverending Story.

I don’t know what to tell you if you didn’t think Cena vs. Styles was a Match of the Year candidate. Most fun I’ve had with a match in ages. The only WWE match I can think of that rivals it this year is the Women’s Triple Threat at Wrestlemania. An absolute belter. It was already two and a half stars just for AJ’s glorious TNA gear and that fantastic introduction. My head fell off by the time they did the Bray Wyatt spot and everyone immediately turned their phone torches on. Genuinely lovely. I never watched Unreal in the end, but I’d pay top dollar to watch an episode where Cena and AJ put this match together, sending each other GIFs and YouTube videos.

Something really funny about Cena on a movie set watching old TNA clips.

So yeah, good show. Positive vibes right now. Let’s enjoy it whilst it lasts because that Wrestling Observer report about the War Games lineup suggests there’s a storm coming.

Rumour seems to be they're doing Punk vs Rollins for the silver medal belt at SNME on Nov 1st so it's very possible! Punk finally getting the climax of his feud with Rollins for the big belt, and it's only possible to watch on the Peacock app. Amazing.
