Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted August 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2025 I actually didn't mind WWE through some of it's shitter periods - Smackdown 04/05, Raw 2006 etc, all periods that get a bit of a battering online I didn't mind. However, there's one phrase that I associate with the very first time I started thinking 'actually, WWE might be a bit shit you know'. Vince McMahon's Million Dollar Giveaway. Quote

sivy Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Don't get me wrong 98/99 I loved as a kid but still hearing the words Mark Henry beats the Rock on PPV in 98. Or The Bossman upsets the Rock on Raw in 99. But I suppose In general I would think Goldberg beating the fiend in a squash. Quote

I don't think anything makes up for the 2006 run or the Network launch. I was actively on the Spirit Squad's side. I wanted to buy green adidas kecks. Was it the 2006 run where Vince's bleeding face was shoved into the Big Show's naked arsehole on PPV? I just looked it up - Unforgiven 2006. 2006 has some of the weirdest cards i've ever seen, I clearly had a more satisfying life if everything except DX passed me by. simonworden Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Eric Young Tna World Heavyweight Champion is the sentence that would come from the promotion highlighting the overall fall from grace after 2010 and it's not the worst. It just highlighted for me where they were really scraping the barrell and about where I gave up watching in 2014. Complete lack of creativity trying to copy the Daniel Bryan story from WWE and failing miserably. Others from the fairly wide time period that I recall. Dixie begs Hogan not to legit leave on Impact. 10 minute iron man match. All X division matches are triple threat. Nasty Boys Vs Team 3D I could go on and I'm sure many have better. Quote

That was pure drek. Just the second, later one that had the feud with Legacy and ended with Michaels retiring. Quote
Merzbow Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 (edited) EVIL or Tadao Yasuda? Which name brings up the most dread? Personally it's the former as I have a soft spot for the absolute worst era of Inoki-Ism and EVIL might legit be the worst world champ in a major promotion, he's worse than Russo in my opinion.. But yeah, both lowest of the low points for NJPW in my eyes. Edited August 5, 2025 by Merzbow Quote
Infinity Land Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 The 10th April 2000 Nitro reboot/reset. They took a week off to build the hype. All I remember is the packed ring with Russo and Bischoff doing most of the talkng and all the titles being stripped. Spring Stampede was that weekend or next. Quote
The King of Old School Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 (edited) 2016-2020 WWE was the absolute pits. Cain Velasquez Baron Corbin in the main event. 7 hour Wrestlemania's Top babyface Roman Reigns booked like an absolute whopper being booed out of every building. Saudi shows. Goldberg as Universal Champion, twice. That weird Wyatt/Randy Orton title match 30 minute HHH wrestlemania matches Sure there is plenty more but they are what immediately springs to mind. TheScarlettChad Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 (edited) 2016 had Smackdown Live which was a great show. 2017 Smackdown has JINDER as WWE champion, RAW had Goldberg squashing Owens, "WOKEN" Matt Hardy, Sister Abigail vs pumpkin Balor, yes this didn't happen but it would have. Utter putrid. Edited August 5, 2025 by TheScarlettChad Quote

This is the era where I was watching only WrestleMania. Even that was far too much WWE to consume. Awful. Quote
