I was almost certain that this was house shows only, but apparently some of it was happening on Superstars too, so it's little wonder nobody remembers it. I do recall seeing a clip of Michael Hayes jumping over the top rope and falling flat on his arse, though.

Valentine didn't really have a run, just that one match. Rob Conway was doing a kind of bargain basement version of Randy Orton's Legend Killer gimmick; he worked with Koko B. Ware, Doink, and Jimmy Snuka around that time too.

Yeah I remember it vividly. There was this weird period of time where the main TV was awful but the C list show (Superstars, Main Event or whatever it was called was brilliant. You had Tyson Kidd, Drew McIntyre and Chris Masters putting on perfect little banger TV matches each week. I think it was Masters and McIntyre that had a match that was maybe 2 minutes long once which was fucking excellent. 

EDIT: turns out that match was actually on Smackdown, worth watching for sure. They also had loads of great matches on Superstars.

Something that came to light on here for me recently was Roman Reigns as IC Champ, absolutely zero memory of this despite being a weekly watcher for over 20 years.

Something which i was talking about irl recently was Layla having the gimmick 'Layla London' because, believe it or not, she is actually British. It lasted quite a few months yet nobody seems to remember this.

I think you might be confused. Layla London was in a rather different line of work. Far more likely to tag up with Michelle Moist than Michelle McCool.

Striker was an irredeemable bellend. Constantly sneaking song titles from British artists into his commentary for the amusement of only himself, and once calling a sunset flip-cutback cradle finish by just exclaiming “Wembley Stadium!!” without context as if many of the fans watching would understand the oblique reference to a 20 year old match.

Pretty sure that was a Layla match too, now that I think about it.

Yeah Striker was absolutely dreadful. That Royal Rumble where he shouted ‘I’m marking out bro!’ For Booker T is up there for the worst commentary calls.
