digforvictory Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 The Death Riders stuff just hasn't worked, maybe if it wasn't in the main event it would be more tolerable but I think last night showed there's about 5 or 6 other wrestlers at least who would be better as World Champion than Moxley right now. However the idea he's not overall been a great signing for AEW or that he's always been rubbish is nonsense. All time great moment for his debut attacking Omega, his 2020 World title reign was the first babyface world title reign I really enjoyed for god knows how long and his entrance with Eddie for Double or Nothing 2021 is one of my all time favourite wrestling moments. You could see how happy he was that Eddie was so over in front of the fans. His feud with Hangman really helped rehabilitate the cowboy after the CM Punk debacle. He was a really important signing for AEW and he's overall been well worth it. As others have said, he's just gone really stale. He just works better as a babyface I think, it's not the first time he's had a heel run flop. Quote

Up there with Punk and Kingston’s eleven minute masterpiece. That doesn’t surprise me, it absolutely breezed by. It was by far my favourite match on the show, and it’s also one of my favourite match matches that AEW has ever done. I absolutely loved it. 2 minutes ago, LaGoosh said: Mox is one decent angle away from being enjoyable again really. He’s one of the best babyface promos in the company in my view. He also has a tremendous heel run in him, I’m sure of that, but clearly this isn’t it. 18 minutes ago, LaGoosh said: so how to solve the main event title scene issue? Just give the title to Stone Cold Swerve Strickland. It's just so fucking obvious. He's the coolest motherfucker in wrestling. Strap him up. An absolute no brainer. Ooh, interesting - because I’m ready for another Hangman title reign and that’s what I’m hoping they do. But realistically there are a shit tonne of great options. Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Hangman, Swerve and Okada all stand out as strong options; then you have dark horses like Takeshita, Christian and Samoa Joe, who could easily be heated up and given a title run. I’d not be against them doing something completely left field and putting the title on someone like Anthony Bowens, Orange Cassidy or Brody King - an upset win from someone who doesn’t feel diminished in the way Jinder Mahal did. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted March 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 10, 2025 Mox is just a fucking cheesy goofball when he's a heel. All snarls and grimaces. The man is a natural babyface whether he likes it or not. When Kingston is back they should team them back up and have a feud with the Hurt Business that'd be fucking ace. Quote
Browser Brady Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 Was there much violence on the show ? Excessive blood and violence has put me off AEW in recent years. Quote

Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted March 10, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted March 10, 2025 (edited) The Hollywood Ending was an unbelievable, hate-filled, blood-soaked, gasp-inducing, dramatic and absolutely spectacular match. It’ll without doubt be one of my picks for MOTY. Part of me agrees it should have been the main event, but another part wonders if it would have been diminished by having to follow Ospreay and Fletcher doing blood and weapons first (and Mox/Cope potentially killing off the crowd like the Death Riders killing a top babyface). Maybe it was better going on before any of that. It was the best thing on a great show regardless. Edited March 11, 2025 by HarmonicGenerator All hail Toni and Mariah. Hyperbole? Me? No never Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted March 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 11, 2025 Agreed with HG, I think if Toni & Mariah were to have gone on last you'd have had to do something different with the cage match for it to have the same impact - and I'm sure Ospreay and Fletcher could have done that. There's more ways to finish off a feud than just "lots of blood". As the card was formatted, I honestly think the only possible chance Cope & Mox had of getting anything out of following that show was to do the Goldberg-Lesnar Survivor Series match. Same long entrances & super special ring announcements, but then Cope shocks him with a couple of quick spears and we're done - or at least, we jump straight to the Christian shenanigans as the likely pinfall is happening. They had no chance to out spectacular or out brutal things that had gone before, so seemed to try to go for "out gritty" or "out epic" and it just had no chance of working, particularly as it was an evening filled with gritty displays of various kinds & long matches. Short sharp shock was their only hope in front of an exhausted crowd. Quote

I think if you had Fletcher/Ospreay go on first, then the rest of the card in pretty much the same order, and then Toni/Mariah on last it would have probably worked absolutely fine. Still can't get over that drummer in Swerve's entrance and how shite he was. My man, you had literally one job! Quote

Paid Members Chris B Posted March 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 11, 2025 I think the placement of the Storm/May was okay. If they hadn't already done the match where Toni won the title, I'd feel it wasn't justified, and if it was a longer match, that'd be another thing. As it is, considering how much they got into 11 minutes, I think they'd have had a longer match in the main event, and there'd likely be people complaining that they got cut short otherwise. What a show though. A whole bunch of matches that could have main-evented any show. Admittedly, the one they chose was lesser, but they got the crowd back into it - and the ending with Swerve felt big-time. I don't dislike Mox to the same level as some of you, and I'm still finding Edge being back a cool thing, so it maybe annoyed me less as well. It says a lot that they had two intense, bloody matches that didn't feel like they took away from each other. Incredible stuff. Quote

I'm assuming his inability to be in time with the recorded song was a production issue (misaligned click track or lack of monitor or something) but it's not like the drum solo he played beforehand was all that impressive. They were in bloody LA, you could throw a stone in any coffee shop and there's a good chance the guy you hit is the drummer in a band trying to make it. Quote
TildeGuy~! Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Saw this on Twitter, Hajime No Ippo is my favourite anime so it’s a little bit of a mark out moment. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted March 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 11, 2025 I haven't seen the anime, but I did think Takeshita's shorts were lovely and that he should stick with them. Quote
