Just thinking about it earlier and it was such a good show that what were to my mind the 6th and 7th best matches on the card (Momo vs Mercedes and Okada vs Brody) were also really fucking good.

Considering I don't think Hurt Business vs Outrunners and Mox/Cope were as bad as some have made out (I had fun with the first and they got the crowd for the second half of the main, and the post-match was great), that's an astonishing card.

I'm honestly struggling to think of one better. Maybe ever.

Yeah, I didn’t mind the tag match either. I thought the Outrunners’ weaknesses were there for all to see, but the match served its purpose much as Paul Wight/QT Marshall did at All Out 2021.

As for your final point, I can’t recall ever seeing a ‘greatest PPV ever’ thread/poll on this forum, I’m tempted to create one as I’d really like to know what would win. It probably would be an AEW show, but I’m not sure which one. I mentioned All Out 2021, and that would definitely be a contender for me, but I’d have to think hard about any final choices.

Wrestlemania X7 would probably take the top spot or a podium finish.

Yeah pretty sure we've had that thread before an WM17 was the clear winner. Probably still would be if we did it again.

For me, Revolution was a great show but to even be in contention for "best ever" you have to have an absolutely banging main event with a good finish. Sadly Revolution did not have that.

Re-watched the Hollywood Ending. It’s a masterpiece.

The bit where both women start taping their fists up to dip into broken glass is absolutely incredible. Mariah May, reluctant, terrified, realising she’s been completely out-crazied by this psychopath. Toni, caked in blood, not a moment of hesitation, looking like she does this every Saturday night. Spectacular.

Between the success of this storyline, the pay per view run Mercedes is on, the supposed salary Mercedes came in on, and with AEW’s unofficial Female Deathmatch Division? I wonder if we’ll see more women considering jumping from WWE. If it’s going to happen anywhere, it’s most likely there.

That’s not to say AEW’s Women’s division is perfect by any means, but there’s absolutely no way you’d see a women’s match like this in WWE. You have to assume there are some sickos who want to have bonkers matches like this, with talents like Toni, Statlander and Willow.

I dunno. It just feels a bit suspect that Becky Lynch hasn’t come back for Wrestlemania season. And it’s not like Bayley isn’t in desperate need of a refresh. Willow vs. Bayley?! Huggers collide! (In barb wire).

We definitely will have, although it would have been before my time on here. I’m not convinced at all it would win, even if it did achieve, as @Chili says, a podium finish. I think it’s been surpassed by several shows - and I suspect that would be reflected in any vote.

I’m not sure I’d want to see that happen, unless Khan started giving female wrestlers more TV time. There are more current roster members I want to see on TV more than WWE wrestlers I’d like to see get a fresh start. But AEW’s women’s division has surpassed WWE’s, which is quite the accomplishment given the state it was in just a few years ago. I’d be more surprised if a bigger name didn’t decide to make the jump than if they did.

I hope not. The current division is great and still underutilised. Any big WWE stars jumping over are going to take TV time from those who deserve it way more - specifically Willow who should be booked as the face of the entire company. And if anything, AEW have way more long term success with non-WWE people or lower level WWE talent who can completely reinvent themselves. I'd really hate for a Becky Lynch or Bayley to make the jump. We just got rid of Andrade, Miro and Malakai Black. Let's not repeat that mistake again with the womens division.

As great as the main at WM 17 was, a lot of people HATED the finish, tbf.

With how times and tastes have changed, I think it'd be a strong contender, but I don't think it'd be the clear-cut winner it used to be as an overall show.

If Christian pins Cope in that shithouse manner, with one hand, whilst still in the choke?  It’s the best show I’ve ever seen. Can’t believe they came up with that and decided against it.

On that subject though, even if you didn’t enjoy the main event, realising this man was probably only fifty to a hundred feet away from the desk gives me a whole new appreciation. Imagine how bad it could have been with him on the call!

Assuming he had a meeting with Tony Khan, I’m praying it went about as well as Shane McMahon’s.

Oh fucking hell, not Ranallo. I’ve cut back watching AEW TV due to not having the time, him getting behind the desk could make me switch of entirely.

Opener was really good, MJF’s best match in a long time.

Hurt Syndicate should’ve absolutely destroyed The Outrunners, the joke wore thin very quickly with them.

I’m not a massive fan of Jon Moxley by any means, but I wish he’d have lamped that twat Bryce Remsburg. Taz on commentary saying “Mox needs to be careful” after Remsburg is getting in his face saying “what you going to do about it?” and pushing him. Should’ve absolutely decked the little cunt

Very good show that ended on a very shit note.

Yuta is Mox's very own Killswitch. It's basically the exact same fucking gimmick.

Mone won, don't care. Calls for Mone Vs. Storm can get in the bin.

Hollywood Ending was tremendous.

Cage match was excellent.

Everything else ranged from decent to very good.

Swerve is the man. He just drips star power.

For the record, had Killswitch not had that horrible health scare that put him in the hospital, I'm convinced Christian's contract thing would have had more bite and interest as I feel he'd have finally turned on Cage.

The bizarre tone with which he said "What do you think you're doing, Jon? What do you think you're doing, JON?" as he was taking the chair off him proper wound me up.

It was like he was taunting the notably dangerous World Champion for being called Jon.

Bryce has only ever been alright when he reffed the Invisible Man vs his brother Invisible Stan at 1 of the GCW Spring Break shows. Mox should have knocked his little fucking head clean off his shoulders still!!

I loved it! I agree with the general consensus here, the tag match was a bit ropey but I'm glad the Outrunners got the opportunity for a title match at a PPV. The main event wasn't the best but outside of those, I pretty much loved everything. I was a little worried with all the hype that they may not deliver but thankfully the show lived up to the hype.

AEW has put up a short highlights video:
