King Mal the Glorious Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I prefer Welcome to Hell, but probably just because it's the one I heard first. I love a bit of Venom, but I have to admit they're one of the worst bands I've seen live. First time was at Hellfest in France, 18 year old Mal's first festival abroad. Took a Newcastle flag and waited down by the barrier for hours for their set only to leave after about 15 minutes, they were so bad. Fast forward 16 years and I saw them again at Brutal Assault in Czechia and they were still terrible but also so slow. Cronos complained towards the end that they had to cut a couple of songs due to time, to which my mate shouted "if you played the songs properly you'd have space for another album". At least that time we managed to make a drinking game out of how many times they botched something 😂 Quote

Might have to have another trot through Mr Millard's retrospective book. I started reading it again today; I give it a reread every few years when I need a bit of cheering up. I love Millard’s videos but So Excited, So Scared will always be my favourite thing he’s done. Quote

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted October 5 Paid Members Posted October 5 There was an article about him on the BBC site yesterday about his visit to his old school library. Hadn't thought of him for years until I read it. How strange that today he's in the news again. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted October 7 Paid Members Posted October 7 Eva Marie Saint passed away yesterday at the incredible age of 102. Great actress, and stunning to boot - particularly in North by Northwest. Quote

Paid Members gmoney Posted Monday at 09:52 PM Paid Members Posted Monday at 09:52 PM That's shite. I'm watching Breaking Bad at the minute as my girlfriend had never seen it. He was perfect in that role. Quote
Paid Members DCW Posted Monday at 10:04 PM Paid Members Posted Monday at 10:04 PM Terribly sad. Apparently his ex manager nicked the money she was supposed to be paying in taxes on his behalf and he ended up owing more money to the IRS than he made in his entire run in Breaking Bad. He was excellent as Walt Jr. The scene where he protects Skyler and his sister from Walt towards the end of the show was really well done. Quote

Funnily enough we’re doing the same - I’ve watched it loads but the missus is seeing it for the first time. Clocked the news as we were watching one of the final episodes which seemed very eerie. From what I’ve read in the last few minutes he did so much outside of his acting role, but he really was superb as Junior. Obviously we’ll need confirmation but early indications suggest he may have taken his own life, making it even more tragic at such an age. Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted yesterday at 06:19 AM Awards Moderator Posted yesterday at 06:19 AM (edited) I spent some time with him once when he was in the area for a convention. Really friendly, easy to get on with, loved to chat about his work and his hobbies (I know nothing about fishing but he taught me some stuff!) And of course, he’s fantastic in Breaking Bad. Extremely sad news to wake up to. Edit: I’ve got a couple of photos, which I won’t post here but are nice to look back on, especially now. But I will post the tweet he sent me afterwards: Edited yesterday at 06:30 AM by HarmonicGenerator Quote
