In my case, I'm determined to solve my sleep problems (which are myriad), my work/career/money issues, my love life (or lack thereof), and my physical health (namely my cardio and flexibility, which are probably the worst they've ever been).

That sounds like a lot to tackle! Go easy on yourself.

I'm going to get back to keeping a journal this year, which I i hope will also help me be a bit more consistent with my fitness. Can't think of any other goals for the year ahead I've got right now.

Mine a pretty much a combination of the above.

1. Get back into running - I trained and competed a half-marathon a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Liked the feeling of exercise and definitely lost weight and felt fit. Trouble is, I find it hard to get into good habits and making time to go for a run. I’ve started playing cricket too so being a bit fitter for that will surely help.

2. getting the eating and drinking in order. I’m not naive enough to stop drinking, I like it. I’m going to limit it to 2/3 pints a week and that’s it. Stop the mindless snacking at work; I’m perfectly capable of having a coffee without biscuits.  Proper meals at home and no snacking in the evening.

3. limit screen time / read more. Made a good start in this already. Deleted Facebook, X, Insta and any other doom scrolling enabler. Nearly finished Ade Edmondson’s autobiography I got for Christmas.

4. And finally (thanks if you are still reading), I’m not going to over think and be so hard on myself. I’m letting things go and not worrying about them as much. It doesn’t change anything and doesn’t help in the slightest. Most of it doesn’t even matter.

Will be seeing you on here more, then! ?

This year I need to get a demo/EP recorded.

Same here, I've been playing and organising gigs with only a single demo track and my sound's already moved way past that.

It's exactly what happened to me last year. Basically cut my social media use down to zero, replaced it with coming here even more.

This place is much nicer.

I didn’t have a bad 2024 per say but I certainly want to make improvements in 2025.

Fitness - i’m actually the fittest I have ever been, all down to running. I do want to improve this year though as I had a very successful 2023 but felt I hit a wall in 2024 and my improvement was limited. I need to do more strength and conditioning, yoga, stretching etc alongside my running and i’m very determined to do this. Ideally I would like to run a sub 18 minute 5k this year, a 40 minute 10k and a 90 minute half marathon.

Technology - aiming to massively reduce ‘wasted’ time online. I have set restrictions on apps and have my phone shut down essentially at 8:30 every night except for messages and educational apps like duolingo and Imprint. Turning scrolling into learning is the goal.

Health and Wellbeing - I have been alcohol free for a year now and don’t have any desire to start drinking again, I wasn’t a big drinker anyway but I really can’t see any benefit to having any again. I have a moderately healthy diet but could do with cutting out the unhealthy snacks etc. As someone who suffers with depression and anxiety there really is no worse thing for me to do than drink and eat poorly as they have impacted my moods hugely in the past.

Family - I have three wonderful girls who I absolutely live for, I adore them and want to do everything I can to ensure that they get the best version of me I can provide.

Continue to explore who I am as a person/father/partner/runner/teacher. Accept and embrace all aspects of myself to continue to live a life of compassion and happiness.

Get my Level 3 Coundelling done, hopefully figure out how I'm going to afford my foundation degree and all the memberships/insurances that go with it and start practicing counselling as I go.

I also really need to start trying to work out what to do in the event that my mum passes. Either finding myself a place or taking a HUGE step and seeing whether I'd be able to move in with Vicky. It'd be tough for Sapphire, though. She'd have to learn to abide women and dogs.

2024 was grand. Switched from a stressful, demanding in-person public dealing job to a non-stressful & 3 days home working job. Managed to not make a balls of the relationship I started at the arse end of 2023 also. Met herselfs 92 and 99 year old aunts today at her folks new years dinner, so still going well.

For this year getting my full driving license, eating more green things and stopping reading the news and getting annoyed at the news so much are my only real goals. All sorta achievable really.

I did this after Covid. It was all doom and gloom and just too much. Obviously I'll see a few bits here and there but I don't specifically read or watch anything news related. I don't miss it.

Appreciate it, man. I think I'd be happy if I managed to get at least two sorted.

Journalling is one of the best things to come out of the Covid period, for me. I've been keeping a journal for four years now - never ever thought I'd be capable of that when I was younger. And it's something I value because I feel like I've "earned" it, i.e. it came as a result of doing a lot of work on myself, rather than being a natural tendency.

I say every year that I’m gonna make that year my last in my current job as I genuinely hate it, outside of my co workers and the convenience of not having to work bank holidays, and another year passes without me doing so, with turning 40 over the Easter/Wrestlemania weekend and passing 11 years there come June I really need to make a serious effort to find a new job.

The problem is, any retail position outside of managerial or supervisual (which I’m not trained in) roles are anything between 4-20 hours a week which would be a huge step down after working 30 hour weeks for the last 5-6 years and the only other job type I’d like to try, data entry types, seem to require some form of software experience and I’ve not used a computer regularly for nearly as long as my retail job

Mine are mostly health and fitness based. I really got into my running and working out during Covid, but the last 9 months I've done less and less due to a combination of mental shit and stressful life events. Looking to get back into it. I'm back in the gym after work today so starting off on the right foot.

The past few years I've massively reduced my alcohol intake so will be looking to keep ontop of this again. But I've replaced the alcohol with ordering absolute shite junk food from JustEat every weekend (sometimes Friday, Saturday and Sunday) so hoping to cut down on this.

Hoping to get a new job/start a new career this year.

Lastly, just keeping on top of my hobbies and interests. I've got a tendency when life gets hard to just shut off from everything and not engage at all, so my usual interests - reading, films, hiking - all just drop away and I spend all my time on Facebook or Youtube or whatever. Going to make more of an effort this year to try and keep ontop of things that make me happier.

2024 was vile. Here's hoping this is a better year for me and for all of you too.

Ah yes, this is an absolutely familiar story for me, and something I've definitely found myself doing over the past year or two. I lost interest in basically everything. I've slowly been trying to build that back up again or at least finding some new ones. So good luck with whatever makes you happy. Sometimes it's a good opportunity to find something different.

Health is the main one. I got really fucked over by Covid, and 2023 was a complete write-off health-wise; for months I had chest pains constantly, and would get out of breath from a 30-45 minute walk. I recently saw a photo of me refereeing a show that year and I just looked awful.

I'm not 100%, and a mild illness still wipes me out, but I started to feel a lot better in 2024. So in 2025 I want to be more proactive on getting better, getting better shape, and just taking care of myself. I'm not rushing out for a New Year gym membership, but just going to do more walking, more yoga, and make use of some of the free gym equipment in local parks. Same goes for mental health - just get on top of it, get better.

I want to book my next tattoo early this year. Not exactly a resolution, but just something I've been wanting to do and having got off my arse and actually done.

I want to make a serious effort towards writing my next book, and writing fiction.
