I'd say that Tony Atlas gets booked on account that he's actually quite open (maybe too much) about stuff and doesn't seem to be under some form of stockholm syndrome/Vince in my real dad effect that you get with others. He's a carny of course, but he seems pretty honest and he was around the business enough in various places to have a unique take. I reckon some of the criticism comes from him not being a big enough name/star for some people's view. The journeymen midcarders of wrestling make far more interesting interviews than Hulk Hogan, a man so utterly fried that he genuinely believes most of the codgers he comes out with he's said it so many times.

Atlas in particular was incredible on the early dark side of the ring about Bruiser Brody. He's someone I've genuinely come to like as I've never seen much of his work and purely on the basis that he's a delightful interview with a loathing of sleeves.

Oh please let this happen, it would be absolutely hilarious. Bouncing Back in documentary form. Nobody stop him, it'll be incredible, and I'd love to see who wants to take part in this besides them. His lawyers will have faces like Krusty's accountant after he bet against the Globetrotters.

Binged the whole thing this afternoon, it was ok but definitely not worth the hype it was getting. Of the talking heads I felt Nowinski, Shane, Bret, Shawn, Cody and Atlas came off well, Stephanie you could see signs of still being under Vince’s spell somewhat especially with the incest angle story and the confusion about Tyson while Hulk, Taker, Pritchard, Cena, Bischoff and Heyman came off looking like idiots

Phil Mushnik, you could see, came off still a bit bitter that his crusade against the business in the late 90s ultimately failed while the Owen and Benoit tragedies were still uncomfortable to look back on, especially the clip from after the former of the Rock outside the ring at the side Owen fell to and you can see a huge patch of Owen’s blood by the apron, something I hadn’t noticed years back

This gets repeated a lot, including from his own wife on Dark Side of the Ring if I remember correctly, but it’s not actually Owen’s blood. It’s from a Brood blood bath earlier in the night and you can see it on the apron before Owen had even fallen.

I strongly disagree with this, and I think the narrative around Mushnik has been heavily influenced by WWE trying to discredit him - much as many right wing hacks do to silence reporters who try to expose corruption.

Was he frustrated that his reporting had virtually no measurable impact on McMahon? Almost certainly, but you would feel that way, if you were him. All those wrestlers dying, yet nobody seemed to care. 

Well done to Mushnik for attempting to expose the toxicity in that company when everyone else was plugging their ears. Given that no one gave a shit, he could easily have given up and moved on to something else, but he didn’t. He knew the company was rotten to the core at that time, and shouted as loudly as he could.
