Fun fact - a mate of mine was a season ticket holder at Blackburn and used to drink in the players' lounge on occasion. During 10-11 season he learned the verbal deal was already in place for Spurs to sign Jones in the January then loan him back to Rovers until the end of the season so he didn't have to uproot mid-season... then his injury put paid to that.

Roughly the same time Jones got injured is when Allardyce got sacked. As well as Big Sam wanting to go to the UAE it's been suggested by the same mate that Allardyce had rang up his buddy Alex Ferguson and told him "Sign this lad, he'll be England captain one day" and Venkys caught wind of it and weren't best pleased. Even though they were already open to cashing in on Jones.

The only compromise in that scenario would be allowing the smaller club (marginally Tamworth) to decide whether they'd rather play at home or away.

I'm sure Tamworth would've preferred to play at Spurs, but then today was a once in a generation tie so it's hard.

They were absolutely brilliant and deserved to win it in 90 minutes.

I said at the time as soon as it went to ET, Spurs will win this 4-0 now (close enough) 

Going to ET is far too much of an advantage for the bigger sides, Tamworth defend like heroes for 90 mins, the reward is to see the opposition bring on 3 players valued roughly at a combined £100 million with over 175 international Caps.

If they insist on scrapping replays then go all in by going straight to penalties and avoid the extra 30 mins

I've seen the argument that they would have got battered 4 or 5 in the replay anyway which yes would of been a likely outcome but the payout to the club would have been close to if not over a £1 million and every one of those players would choose to play a replay at Spurs Stadium then go to ET even if the chances of going through are slimmer with a replay.

Even taking away (correct) financial arguments, everyone in the world except Spurs and the Tamworth coach driver who'd have to drive to North London should want to see a replay, even if they end up inevitably gubbed. It's part of the fun of the cup. Ok, get rid of them quarter finals or something but early round replays are a special things.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just saying that replays have been scrapped, in my opinion that's the compromise I'd make now that they have.

That always used to be a good couple of paydays for the lower league teams in the FA Cup. The big side sticks the kids on at home, but keeps a few big names on the bench so they can snatch a draw if they need to, then the replay sees the proper team trotting out at a lower league ground so the hometown fans can see the big guns play.

It’s a shame, in a way, that neutrals didn’t get that late Tamworth winner. Otherwise “beat top-of-the-league Liverpool on Wednesday, lose to Tamworth on Sunday” could have gone on the gravestone of the opinion possibly still held by anyone, that Spurs are anything other than a banter team, here for your amusement.

Absolutely insane that we've taken 4 points off Liverpool, and it took £50m combined subs to break us down. Suspect defending from the corner to let the short minecraft man score from it, to be fair.

 

Given my first Forest memory was getting battered 8-1 by United, anything and everything good this season is brilliant. Top 4 is dream stuff, Europa League is amazing, and Conference League might even be a disappointment.
