Yeah we got fucked over by many a Rory Delap long throw. Can't fault it, Wenger teams just weren't set up to deal with it.

Seriously though, are Spurs fans over Ange at this point? He was a breath of fresh air and who doesn’t love gung-ho football (yes we know who) but there comes a point where you want to enjoy your team going 2-0 up and not just think “Oh great this is going to be even shitter when they come back now”.

The best bit last night was when it cut to Ossie Ardiles after the match. I bet he absolutely loved that.

That’s not an Ange problem. That’s a Spurs problem. Has been for over 20 years. 2-0? 2-0 is the acceptable “shaky lead.” I don’t even blink at 3-0 these days. Back in the 2008 league cup semi, when the Arsenal pulled it back to 4-1, I fully expected us to lose. It was only when Malbranque made it five with the last kick of the game that I thought “OK, we’re probably going to win.” This being within memory of being 3-0 up at half time and losing inside the 90 twice in recent years, not including a 2-3 reverse at Championship Leicester in the 2006 FA Cup and other embarrassments, and within a season of being 4-1 up after first leg of another semi against Championship Burnley and getting taken to extra time in the second leg going down to 3-0 in the 90…. then being 2-0 up at half time against Man Utd a couple of weeks later, only to lose 5-2.

We’re a banter team, existing only to amuse others. I’ve watched them enter injury time at 1-0 and lose 2-1. I’ve seen them concede 4 and still win, and score 4 and still lose, and there’s been so many 4-4 draws and oddball 5-3 or 6-4 games you’d think they played in the Cubs league.

At least it’s not boring.

It’s definitely an Ange problem. I know Spurs are Spursy and all that and games don’t get interesting until they’re 2-0 up/2-0 down but they’re not actually cursed. You lot are just conditioned to expect a certain style and identity that goes hand in hand with your gung-ho football you’ve enjoyed and lamented over the years. A professional football manager at the highest level should at least know how to close a game out at 2-0 up, Ange doesn’t even try!

I'd be interested to know if the Spursiness stats changed significantly at all under George Graham. A "reckon" says they probably did.

I dunno mate, it wasn't Ange that was in goal Thursday that gifted United two goals was it? 

And I know the retort to that is "Well he tells them to play out from the back!" and yes you're absolutely correct. 

But if you're trying to embed something new, and at the first sign of panic you instruct them to change that philosophy completely, you will never get full buy in from anyone.

If those two quick goals happen to pretty much any team in the league (in football tbh) the momentum would shift massively for a period in the game, which is what happened.

Before those two gifts from Forster (which is a shame as he's been by and large pretty good) United were doing fuck all and had very little threat.

I'm not saying Spurs could manage games better, of course they could. But some of the chat about the Thursday match in particular has been absolutely ridiculous IMO.

Just scored 9 in two games, 4 against United in a cup QF and people want to question Anges tactics? Amazing.

The Chelsea game was different. We never beat them so that's just standard.

Anyway, I'll enjoy tomorrow's 2-7 loss while Jamie Carragher has another meltdown.

"Spursy" is a myth, and just lazy.

We're just very often not very good, an inconsistent side that when you really drill down into it, hasn't ever been consistently successful. I don't know why people ever expect anything else? 

Anyway, up Ange. Rather have 500 games under him than any under Mourinho or Conte. Two mugs who acted like we were doing them a favour letting them manage little old us.
