They had not one but two chances to win the league, blew them both, now they're playing like Bruce Rioch's in charge again. Which is extremely amusing to me. Gabriel Martinelli is a dreadful football player too, one of the most bewilderingly overrated guys in the last 5 years of football anywhere. Man City have lost three on the trot and may (I know they wont) have a huge points deduction coming and I do think Arsenal have a very good manager who can fix things. They were a total mess when he turned up and he sorted it out. Losing their highly rated director of football Edu doesn't sound like a good thing though short or long term. Man City will likely just sort it out post Christmas and win every game, walking the league but it would be fun as neutral to see them get absolutely fucked over by the Premier League in the court case.. Would be a total shootout for the league. Quote

I don’t think we’re playing very dissimilarly to around this time last season. It felt like we had a long spell early on (apart from the 4-0 vs Bournemouth) where we were winning without playing well, just doing enough to win, like the home games against Utd and City, the 96th minute winner against Luton. Or Odegaard or Saka would just pop up and do something. This season we’re on the other side of the margin. Odegaard is obviously our key man but it’s pretty damning how badly performances have dropped off without him. I expect the level to go up once he’s fully fit again in a few weeks. I’ve never understood the love for German Crouchy and I’m not sure we can win the league with him as the focal point of the attack. He has improved, he’s much more up for the physical battle now, but his decision making and finishing during key moments is generally poor and I don’t think it’s the kind of thing that can be coached out of him. You either get it or you don’t, and he don’t. Quote

Did cost an awful lot though, so someone must have overrated him, no? Joking aside, watching him week in and out over the past few years, Martinelli is fantastic in pockets, he has moments where he unplayable, but he's also shit and massively wasteful a lot of the time. Unless he can become more consistent, then I'd agree he's probably somewhat overrated in certain quarters. Equally, I don't think he'll get a fair shake from fans of other clubs so it probably all evens out to he's an average prem quality winger most of the time. This would work as a joke if you dismissed the last 30ish years of our existence. It's a non stop laugh riot. Good try though Quote

Mr_Danger Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I imagine watching Havertz line up week in week out is a bit like when we had Emile Heskey starting games religiously. They both look like useless sacks of shit most of the time but as soon as they get taken out you see a drop in the teams performance. Quote

I think Havertz does more off the ball (like Heskey often did) than he gets credit for. Overall, I don't think he's done badly, and I like him for Arsenal, but the lack of an effective Plan B is the problem. We needed to buy a striker and didn't, which makes me think someone is lined up (Sesko possibly from some of the rumblings I've heard, but that could equally be just baseless ITK bollocks from lads on Twitter) to come in after this season, but they couldn't get them this year. Or perhaps I'm just being optimistic. Either way, its's something i feel will again cost us dearly this season. Edited November 7, 2024 by mim731 To add something, or maybe nothing... Quote
