Paid Members gmoney Posted September 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 30, 2025 Even though it's been shit now for much longer that it was great, it's never diminished the magic of series 2 - 8 for me. I can watch any episode from that time period any time, and it's absolute gold. Series 9 - 10 hit and miss, but the hits are hits. 11+ different shades of dogshit. I thought the first film was terrible. Quote
Merzbow Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 I remember the PS3 game at the time nailing it far better than the actual film, in fact there's quite a few games that are actually funny when the show wasn't. Quote

I've never understood when people say, for example "The Phantom Menace ruined the Star Wars films for me" or similar. How does it affect the affection for what you loved before? They could remake Back To The Future, and it be the biggest piece of shit, and it'll still be my favourite film ever. Quote

Paid Members JLM Posted September 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 30, 2025 Yeah it definitely has its moments. The new movie… of all the periods during bad-Simpsons it could have been announced, this is one of the better ones. Seasons 33-36 have all had good episodes in there and at times made me laugh out loud, compared to most of the previous decade of unwatchable episodes. I’m cautiously optimistic that it will be passable, and in 2025 that’s the best we can do. Quote

Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted September 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 30, 2025 I hate the Simpsons movie, it was everything I didn't want it to be, the only thing i like in the whole film is that you see Bart's dick. For me pre and post movie is a clear division between loving and not caring about the show. I had already seen the movie at the cinema and hated it, then I went to Amsterdam with a group of friends and they all wanted to see it so I was forced to watch it again while experiencing a semi bad mushroom trip which was really awful. Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted September 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 30, 2025 I didn’t think the first film would be very good, but it surprised me in being fairly decent, especially as the series had lost a lot of steam by this point. So I’m cautiously optimistic on a second. Quote

Honestly that censor gag was a point I thought "maybe it won't be so bad"... sadly while there's a couple of decent lines the rest of it was rubbish. To be fair that's similar to my take on most Simpsons since the "golden years", occasionally I'll catch a new episode (so pretty much anything from the last 15 years) and think there's a couple of decent lines but for the most part they're just not very good overall. With the actors struggling with their voices now it's largely time to put it to bed and hopefully this will be part of the big farewell. Thanks for all the laughs and I'll not ignore just how solid it was at its peak but it does feel it's time. Quote
jm29195 Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 I think my issue with the first Simpsons movie was that they basically removed them from Springfield for a large part of the movie. The Springfield ensemble is to me at least as funny if not more so than the main characters, and it just seemed really odd that they made a decision to split them up.and bring in some random new characters instead. TibBo Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 Rest! Rest! was the only laugh out loud moment for me Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted October 23, 2025 Author Members Posted October 23, 2025 This is absolutely tremendous work. Can't stop laughing at You Have Selected Regicide. It's spot on. Quote
