Members SuperBacon Posted September 3, 2025 Members Posted September 3, 2025 In case you're all having a shit or a fry up at the time, there will be another one of these on Sunday at 3pm according to my work intranet. Quote
organizedkaos Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Is there supposed to be some official way they tell people about this? As amusing as it's been telling people on WhatsApp that a man named SuperBacon told me on a wrestling forum i've been a part of since 2002 it's rather ridiculous word of mouth. A friend who's a nurse was saying they didn't know about the last one and it severely paniced the ward cos everyones work phones all went off at once... Regardless, multiple parents in Bristol thank you for your effort Mr Bacon. They are at least aware of the threat to nap time. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted September 3, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 3, 2025 I've seen it advertised on Facebook, and via a text message today saying 'On 7 Sept at 3pm, we will be testing Emergency Alerts. Compatible phones across the UK will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound. Learn more: gov.uk/alerts' Quote
MVP RULZ Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Yeah I got a text message today from my network provider (Tesco Mobile) telling me though I had already seen it doing the rounds on various places last few days as well Though If I remember last time mine didn't even go off so I'm interested to see if it actually works this time Quote
Harry Wiseau Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 I've noticed on the overhead signs on the motorway a thing saying PHONE ALERT TEST SEPTEMBER 7 but by the time I get home it's always gone from my mind and I forget to Ask Jeeves about it, so thank you @SuperBacon for the heads up, although I think I turned the alert thing off before the last one so it hopefully won't alert me to anything. Members SuperBacon Posted September 7, 2025 Members Posted September 7, 2025 Work phone went off at 3.01pm and personal phone went off at 3.10pm, both on O2. So I'd be fine if something happened Monday to Friday (a minute late), but if a nuke went off at the weekend while I'm out, the bomb would arrive before I'd got the alert. Safe. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted September 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 7, 2025 Nearly shit myself last time. Was prepared this time. Nearly shit myself again. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted September 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 7, 2025 Was having a sleep before work tonight and planned to get up at 3pm. It woke me up. But just like every alarm, I thought I was hitting snooze and fell back asleep. At least I’d sleep through the bomb. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted September 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 8, 2025 Despite being the one to remind everyone else this was happening a few days before, I completely forgot about it. I never heard mine go off, though it probably did, as the text alert was on my screen when I checked. But I walked out of the shopping centre to the sound of alarms going off everywhere and a couple of drunks having a mid-afternoon scrap, and it felt properly apocalyptic for a moment before I remembered. DavidB6937 Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 Yep, remembered it every single bloody day apart from when I was in the cinema. Thankfully I wasn't the only one. Quote

Paid Members Wretch Posted September 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 8, 2025 As with the last one, absolute carnage in the prison at 3pm yesterday when all the smuggled in phones went off. The lads were pretty savvy this time though. Before the bell hit 3, they started smashing the shite out of every general alarm button on the landings which produces a god-awful noise (called the warble) to mask the test alarm. Already looking forward to the next one. Quote

It appears I had turned mine off last time so it didn't suprise me. I don't want to know about any upcoming emergencies, I've seen Threads. Quote
