Why? It seems like a pretty inoffensive term. Especially when you consider today's generation of wrestlers would have grown up on video games where the term "moveset" was rife. Who gives a fuck? If you get upset by it I think that says more about you. Hangman was very silly for the original post. Punk despite his own claims of being the adult in the room, the professional and the grown up can't help taking a childish shot at someone over something incredibly stupid just because he upset him once over two years ago. Everyone involved is a fucking idiot. Edited December 15, 2024 by LaGoosh Quote
organizedkaos Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I mean isn't logan paul a very terrible person? Even if he's quite good at wrestling? I've not watched him wrestle nor care hugely about online personalities so questions not rhetorical. But yeah I thought he was known for being an exceptionally rubbish human. Surely Adan Page can make a comment about that given Paul does use his moves? It's just an off hand comment rather Bret Harting the point. Or does Paul get a pass cos he's transitioned "exceptionally rubbish human" into "heel character"? Quote

We're better on 'they're all idiots' territory, rather than picking who's worst. That's a one way path to the same people making the same choices, based on who they personally like. Nomenclature develops in professions, that's fine. There probably is some words that some wrestlers don't say. Whatever. They're all as bad as each other. That's the line here. THEY ARE ALL AS BAD AS EACH OTHER. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 15, 2024 In a gaming context moveset is fine because if you are creating a wrestler you have to set the moves. A wrestler saying it is stupid as it implies a limiting factor as to what they can do in the ring and as a fan you should want to believe your favourite wrestler should be capable of anything. If you are sat there thinking "Why is Braun Strowman going to the top rope it's not in his moveset" then there is no hope for you. Quote

Merzbow Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Steve Austin using move-set as a term, that's good enough for me. There's your 'Mania feud. Quote

Points 1 and 3 I agree with. Point 2, I don't know enough. It'd be like me weighing in on what pastry chefs say about dough. No idea and don't care. Quote

Guest Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Remember that time Sami Zayn patronisingly chastised an indie wrestler for using the blue thunder bomb and thus copying him? Anyway, this comes across to me as Hangman not complaining about his moves being stolen so much as not liking Logan Paul, and it is the least savage attempt at a burn I've ever seen. That said, maybe if Punk had used the language this generation of wrestlers speaks, Hangman would've listened to his advice and this whole thing could've been avoided. Really makes you think. Quote
Chili Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 I know Punk is a more aware of where his bread is buttered now, but it'd be a crying shame if his last run ended up being completely incident free and he slides into a cushy NXT. It's robbing the fans who've invested in him in a way. You rally against the system, then you leave and sue it and lose your mate, and vow to never come back. Then you come back somewhere else, it's fine, but now times have changed, the prefects have more power and you can't deal with it. You come back 'home' to a bloke who helped release you on your wedding day, come back, do some of your best work, be professional and then retire? Bullshit, that's not CM Punk, he owes us another giant fuck-up than assist him into his later years salty Bret period. I want him kicking off at something incredibly minor he can do independent radio interviews about years later, or NXT eventually gets him divorced. Or he just decides to smack Seth Rollins. A pleasant final run is in a way robbing him and us of Punk's true potential. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Yeah, I don't think the comparison is necessarily useful for anyone. Logan Paul for as much as he's an absolute nob tip, took to wrestling quicker (and better) than any crossover star ever... but he's a very different proposition to Hangman. I don't think, unless you're looking for it, you watch Logan Paul and think 'hey, he's nicking Hangman's act'. Now, if he returns by setting fire to Nakamura's surf shack or something? Then we can talk. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 15, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 15, 2024 You are not wrong Chili. A pissed off CM Punk would be great to watch flame out again, and again, and again and you are normally only a spilled cup of coffee away from that. The thing is that now I think he is getting what he always wanted, the squeaky wheel is getting the grease he has always craved. Quote
