Paid Members Carbomb Posted December 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 5, 2024 I'm not sure why there isn't condemnation across the board for TK/AEW management here; regardless of whether or not people believe Ryan Nemeth's claims or not as pertains to Punk, the fact remains that his biggest grievance is that he went through the proper channels, followed proper procedure, did everything he was supposed to as an employee/contractor, and was ignored. Sure, that claim could possibly be false or exaggerated, but he felt that strongly about it that he forewent a serious financial settlement to be able to talk about it publicly. Quote

It's not so much about the consensus as regards AEW as there appearing to be a bit of criticism of Nemeth - to be honest, reading the thread back, I think I might have overplayed that in my head. Paid Members BomberPat Posted December 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 5, 2024 Something missing from that Fightful account that was in an earlier version of the report is that Ryan Nemeth also alleged that CM Punk had an "undisclosed executive/management role" in AEW. That's something that has been suspected for a long time, and that I think fills in a lot of blanks - Punk's "I'm trying to run a business here" at the All Out press conference, but also it adds a bit of weight to Hangman criticising him on being a hypocrite about "worker's rights" if Punk was an executive when all that was going down, and it explains why he'd have had the clout to ban someone like Christopher Daniels from Collision. It also casts his brawl with Kenny and the Young Bucks in a new light if it's an intra-management brawl rather than management going after employees. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Why are wrestlers becoming execs? What does Punk have in experience that'd make him a good fit for that job? Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 5, 2024 I thought the whole deal with Collision originally was that it was the show for Phil and Friends and that it was a way to try and keep the children who couldn't play nice with eachother apart, and for Tony to try and make some money back on the big contracts he was forking out. Whether he had an official secret management role is a moot point really, he was effectively in charge of Collision. It then comes as no surprise that he wouldn't want Chris Daniels or whichever interchangeable Nemeth it was on the show. Its a very different timeline if everyone involved had acted professionally, but given what we know neither side were capable of that. Quote

It's like when you see the star of a TV show listed as an Executive Producer. They do fuck all extra, it's just a way to give them extra perks. Quote

The point with Chris Daniels, rather than Ryan Nemeth, Colt Cabana, Matt Hardy, and anyone else he allegedly had barred from Collision, is that Daniels was Head of Talent Relations, and Punk was able to get him kicked out. That's a dynamic that makes a lot more sense with Punk himself being in a management role, than a wrestler having the clout to overrule someone in a management position, and also tells you something of how Punk seemingly saw his role. It's important to note, too, that Punk being an executive pre-dates the creation of Collision, so it's not just that he was given a show as his playground and threw his weight around there. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted December 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 5, 2024 That's fair Pat, though how effective Daniels could be as Head of Talent Relations when he seemingly had no relationship with Punk and perhaps other talent is beyond me. Quote
