If they weren’t part of the story, I suspect they’d go bigger on it. I’m not sure they’re quite as enamoured with Farage as they were, and would quite happily switch to Badenoch’s band of idiots. There's been plenty of criticism of Farage in The Times for a while now, I don't tend to read the editorials but they've been backing Badenoch pretty much since she got in Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted September 5 Paid Members Posted September 5 They criticise Reform to the point that they've been dubbed a "lefty rag" by the party and their supporters. I don't think the Telegraph are much kinder, and when you're calling the Times and the Telegraph lefty rags there's not a whole lot further right to go. The Mail and Express, I guess. Even then I have a feeling they'd be inclined to try and distance themselves. Farage is even appearing on TalkTV instead of GBNews at the moment. Quote

deathrey Posted September 5 Posted September 5 It was pretty awful footage but I still think their voters won't give a shit. Quote
Paid Members BigJag Posted September 6 Paid Members Posted September 6 (edited) At times its like watching a cartoon. The characters that populate that political group are bizarre. Unfortunately its not in the slightest bit funny. When we can see the reality of their influence. Aside from the headline grabbers is there any competence in that organisation of failed Tories? I realise that they are adept at pandering to a certain element of the British public. Despite the copious evidence of incompetence when given control of councils. Their base seems oddly blind to that. I try to avoid political discussions at work. However I am hearing talk in the office of support for Reform. From people that I wouldn't expect to to be that gullible. The middle ground seems to be a very narrow area currently. Edited September 6 by BigJag Quote
CTXRussomark Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Some serious deja vu seeing them wheel out Dorries, Jenrick and Anderson for car crash attempts at damage control over the past few days. It's hard to miss the parallels with the Tories when it's the exact same crew trying to make excuses. Hopefully that resonates with some of the more borderline supporters who have only really turned to Reform to get away from the Tories. Farage's interview saying his family no longer support him being a politician also feels like him planting a seed for being able to jack it in if things get much worse. I'm sure he'll quite happily walk off into a bunch of highly paid TV and media jobs, working a martyr gimmick due to "the establishment" and loony lefties forcing him out of parliament. Quote
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted September 6 Moderators Posted September 6 Yeah, here's hoping the level of scrutiny proves to be just to much for him because he is at his core a very lazy man. He loves the power and attention, but you get the feeling he doesn't have the energy to fully embrace a lifestyle of pure adversarial chaos like Trump. Goes without saying that the wheels totally come off Reform without him there. Quote
Paid Members BigJag Posted September 6 Paid Members Posted September 6 (edited) What was that nonsense in Dover about? Around 100 masked men marching around Dover trying to intimidate people. Police shepherding them about. Some similar antics in Portsmouth on Sunday. Around 500 people attempted to intercept a small boat. The activists appear to have been guided by failed Tories Braverman,Jenrick, and local councillors. Tommy Robinson's right hand man helped organise the interception. CTXRussomark Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Lovely start to the day waking up to the Republicans being slaughtered in the US midterms. I hadn't let myself get my hopes up after the last election polls were predicting a Trump loss and how that turned out, but this almost makes up for it. Between this, Reform sliding down the polls in the UK, Bolsonaro losing in Brazil and Netanyahu teetering on the edge in Israel, I'm almost allowing myself a sense of optimism. Quote

Yeah, fantastic coffee this morning. There'll be a time to parse promises, expectations etc but this is some of the most pleasant, funniest live election blogging I've been arsed to scroll through in ages. Quote
Paid Members johnnyboy Posted 7 hours ago Paid Members Posted 7 hours ago In some ways it's a shame that it wasn't the racism, the sexism, the homophobia, the cruelty, or the corruption, but the price of petrol that seems to have caused the shift. Good results so far though. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted 6 hours ago Paid Members Posted 6 hours ago If he wasn't so dangerous, you'd absolutely adore Trump's oblivious heel character. I mean just look at this quote from his Bullshit Social account "I wasn't on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!" One of my favourite characters in pro-wrestling has always been the jabroni who thinks he's brilliant. Trump takes that to the extreme. Like others, it gave me a spring in my step this morning. Gives a little bit of hope that eyes are being opened all over the world to these cunts but, as JB expertly says, in the US at least, they'll accept most things if Gas and the supermarket shop are cheap. I don't think that's just USA really though is it? Reform have said they would remove VAT on petrol and lower fuel duty by 5p. We may be racists and sex offenders, but you're petrol price will be low(er). Still polling at over 20% (wouldn't win many seats though). Quote
