Am working this weekend so unable to catch BFG live tomorrow night, but its a strong looking card in fairness.

Will Osprey v Mike Bailey can’t help but being great surely?

Loved the build for Alex Shelley v Josh Alexander on the go-home show too. I never thought of Shelley as anything but a transitional champ but he’s really grown into the role and I’d like him to retain.

I would like Josh to win back the title is there gonna be a surprise debut..Id honestly like a couple of ex lower tier Indy/WWE guys and gals turn up and get a chance making something of there career's...the way we've seen with Maclin,Swann..etc

I don’t think the 90 days are up for the latest batch of main roster WWE releases.

I wouldn’t have a clue about any WWE talent beyond the biggest names, but there’s usually a Steve Maclin or two out there begging to be given the Impact career rehab.

The schedule is there for guys like Dolph and Shelton Benjamin to come in and have an easier payday but remain on TV.

Rick Boogz could have a fantastic holiday camp cheese feud with Johnny Swinger and Dirty Dango too before seeing if he has more promise.

Hopefully with lots of foam hands, public warnings and a few "ask him refs" for good measure

They are changing the name to TNA. Personally I think Impact is better. TNA sounds like a name a 13 year old came up with in 1999.

The announcement is bizarre. It dosent actually mean anything... IMPACT is pretty much the exact same as TNA in concepts and presentations (excusing natural modernisation over time).

Like.. what is it going to do except for just, you know, a change in colour scheme and using a different set of belts.

Will get some people talking I suppose and maybe create a bit of buzz.

I imagine its to do with brand recognition and while the TNA name was undeniably damaged goods when the rebrand was made, the beauty of nostalgia is if you allow enough time to pass people start becoming more willing to gloss over the shit parts in lieu of stuff they enjoyed when younger.

I’ve been quite surprised how well the announcement seems to have gone over. I was expecting the usual string of LOL TNA and laughing emojis, given that anything the company does gets a string of negative comments or “no one watches that shit anyway”.

The number welcoming it like TNA was starting back as a new company, like Impact has never existed, was quite an eye opener and may explain it?

Given the company was planning a production overhaul over Christmas and new set etc anyway, now was the time to do it clearly. Impact 1,000 etc garnered quite a lot of buzz so evidently TNA still means something to people.

It can’t  hurt there’s still a bunch of generally revered “TNA wrestlers” still with the company such as the MCMG, Eric Young etc and that relations clearly remain good with Mike Tenay and some other names we’ve seen pop up recently.

I think it's a good move. WWE, AEW...TNA. It just works better with initials.

You can divide this company's history roughly in two: TNA had a very, very gradual upward descent as being a WWE alternative. Was it a mistake factory? You betcha. But it did become a brand with a certain alternative nous that ended up doing decent numbers on Spike and getting itself in its best position ever right before Hogan and Bischoff came in to play the money mark.

Then from about the time it fully rebranded to Impact onward you have year on year shrinkage. The style and stars that were once its own have been co-opted by WWE, ROH start doing bigger houses. It's found a niche as a no-nonsense booking company over the last few years. It doesn't make mistakes these days, really, but it's still got that Impact vibe of just being a bit...dead.

Yeah it was initially a dumb name right up there with Sports Entertainment Xtreme (Get it? Sex. Durhurhur...) but its legacy and contributions are as TNA for better or worse. And regardless of what you think of that legacy, they've been around for a long time now and have gotten pretty good at presenting that legacy to people. They have free YouTube playlists of their specialist match types. They have a Hall of Fame. They have a streaming service that's - frankly - way better than WWEs given the cost/technical performance ratio. Only the better part of it is all TNA.

It was a stupid rebrand initially so I don't think this one could be stupider. It's resetting things back as they should be.

The thing is that it has been around for so long and does have a huge history to pull from now. So they can easily push TNA as the place so many big names came from or appeared in etc. Their social media always has videos ready if someone appears in another company.

It'll be tough to grow I think especially in a world where AEW exists, ROH still does and New Japan travels a lot. And more importantly WWE are doing really well too. So not sure exactly what they think they can offer to make the company grow again. But time will tell.

I admire their passion and their belief. I also think they do put on great shows and have a really solid roster. There's a reason they've survived.

Vinnie Ru's ears just perked up.

But yeah, the de-TNAfication of the company ultimately didn't do any real good, did it? From the Hogan era rebranding to the final ditching of the initials the company was still sliding downwards, it wasn't a slightly sexist name that was causing the company the flounder yet they acted like it was.

Also, I kinda want six sides?
