Paid Members Scratch Posted June 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted June 8, 2025 (edited) Not wanting to bring the somber, but my grandma and last remaining grandparent died on 25th May - 15mins after we’d set sail on our cruise from Barcelona. Terrible timing, but at least I was still close enough to shore to receive the call from the care home and to hastily make some others. She’s been ill for a long time, but having survived being shot at by a German plane in WWII, bowel cancer in 1967, living with Type 1 Diabetes and being blind for the past 4 years, she couldn’t overcome a broken hip after a fall 2 months ago, and she finally went to sleep after many many years of suffering. Anyway, my estranged older sister who’s the victim of everything and has had nothing to do with me, my mum, man grandparents or my critically ill dad for many years suddenly sprung into yet another burst of hate and started accusing my mum of not telling her anything. That’s despite us trying desperately to call and speak to her for the last year, and her absolute refusal to have a call. In her words “it’s more professional to converse over sms” (?!?!) When my mum messaged her to let her know that her grandma had died, she simple replied: ”Thanks for letting me know, a late funeral would suit me best” Pure, pure evil. Left it a few minutes and they carried on, so gave it the old, 'Do you have any idea what time it is? Some of us are trying to get some sleep.' It was very hot, so he took off his jacket and soon after a member of staff appeared to say "I'm sorry, but the Lord of Bumshire (or wherever) has asked me to remind you that this is not a summer camp."
